Taste problems

I dont know if I just havent found the right flavor or what...

Ok, so I started out with menthol prefilled cartomizers from vapor kings. There was an odd taste behind the menthol, but it was decent.

So then I got chocolate and cappuccino prefilled and vanilla juice, also all from vapor king.

I dont like any of those flavors at all. But its not just that I dont like the flavor. That same odd taste is behind all of them, but with my new flavors it was a lot stronger.

I am guessing its the pg?

I have some stuff on order from tasty vapor, but havent got it in yet and I know they are behind.

Does vg have the same taste?

I know these arent gonna taste exactly like their flavors (i know the choc flavor isnt gonna taste like a hershey bar) but I was expecting to taste more flavor and less of that odd taste.

I was able to add some flavoring to the vanilla juice to make it taste better, but by the time I got enough flavor to cover that other taste I dont like, it was thicker and requires a hard draw to get the vapor.

lol... I posted in another thread that I hadnt spent very much yet... guess I spoke too soon, because it looks like I am going to be spending some money trying to figure out what flavors I like.

I just started with cartomizers this week and have been learning A LOT! First, the cartomizer samples that came with my KR8 from V4L all tasted blehh.. kind of perfumey and/or funky plasticky taste. None of them tasted like the flavor that I expected from the label. I have placed another order and hope for better luck!

I have also been refilling with other juices into blank carts. Better luck with this, but I have noticed that they taste different or have a different aftertaste than when I used them in my M401. Different, but likeable enough. I have read that different e-cig models bring out flavors differently due to the heat in the attys (ohms, I keep reading). Maybe the KR8 carts are too hot for my "other" flavors??? I will keep on trying.
I really like the battery life and the carts on my XL KR8.

Last little note... This is my first 24 hours without an analog. I have dropped from a pack a day to this in less than a week. I am noticing that EVERYTHING tastes different from day to day -- I know my tastebuds aren't anywhere fully recovered, but I know that changes in taste (juice, food, real coffee) are already evident. I bought Butter Rum from TV (doubler) and HATED it at first...last night it smelled delicious and tasted really good. Go figure! (I went with the doubler cause I wanted a 0 nic to pacify/chain vape on in the evening before bedtime)

Guess we'll both be on that expensive learning curve / adventure until things "settle down" in our bodies and we find our happy vaping place!:)

Good luck, I'll post the results of my new prefilled carts from V4L when I try them.

I'm not exactly known to vape a lot of pre-filled cartos, but from what I gathered from mentionings in other threads, there is a perfume-y taste to many cartos at the moment, which some people dislike. Was mentioned here for example.

Better get some juice and blank cartos, or even better, drop the cartos, especially as a newbie to vaping (read the thread linked above as to why).

I've never had anything from Vapor King, but maybe all the cartomizers from there have that "strange" flavor.

I say experiment with different vendors if you are sold on the pre-filled cartomizers (and even if you aren't; experimenting is fun and informative for you). Also, as others have said, definitely try refilling your own and drip.

One thing I've learned in my short time w/ a pv is to experiment as often as possible; vaping is such a subjective thing, it is the only way to get the best out of it for you.

I think you'll be pleased with Tasty Vapor's juice when it arrives. After 33+ years smoking I figured that my tastebud's were shot, but their juice was the first that I really enjoyed. Granted I haven't tried a ton and am still looking forward to sampling other supplier's wares. (especially Ms T!) Be patient and you'll find what works for you soon.

I too got VKs in yesterday with a variety of flavors. My first impression was good but after an hour I kept getting this aftertaste that was common to all favors. It was so bad I had to chain smoke a bunch of analogs to oercome it. Wondering if it is the PG and whether all liquids will have this taste? Veterans please help. I really want to quit analogs but this first attempt didn't do it for me.:(

O.K...... Everyone who started vaping less than a month ago:) Your tastebuds haven't recovered yet from smoking:rolleyes: It's gonna take a while till they recover and you really start tasting and smelling what you're actually vaping:) If you're smoking in tandem with vaping it makes it harder to taste something other than the ciggy. Patience grasshopper, patience. We ALL went thru it:D

Thanks for your reply but I'm not sure it answers the problem the OP and I are facing. Are you suggesting that all vaping, regardless of brand, has such an aftertaste? If yes, then it is an issue of getting used to the taste. If no, then we could possibly try alternative brands or try to mix our own liquids. The aftertaste is so strong that it is very offputting. I'm hoping it's not the glycol..

I'm not saying they all have an aftertaste. I'm just saying the tastebuds are out of wack. If you go back to that liquid later, you might think it tastes totally different:) I've never tried that liquid. Just don't want you throwing out or writing off a supplier.

I tend to agree with this statement IF you are referring to the ability to accurately identify nuances of flavors i.e. a "hint" of chocolate.

When referring to a foul or "odd" taste, I think that this statement is somewhat misleading. A bad atomizer tastes bad regardless of how long it has been since you last smoked...

Also, I don't know that many people who have quit smoking and hated the taste of pickles their entire life, suddenly develop an affinity for them b/c their tastebuds started working more effectively. Perhaps Vaporking's fluids just don't jive w/ December Moon's buds. Only one way to tell...

I say experiment December Moon; there is something out there made just for you!

Just my two cents :)

I am fairly positive what I am tasting is NOT a burnt carto... I actually did that and it was a completely different and nasty taste.

At this point, I am concluding that its the prefilled cartos, and I have juice on order now from a couple of different places. I got an email saying my TV was being mixed today. And then I ordered samples from V4L, BombDrops and vaporheads.

So, I am hoping that I will find something out of all that I like.

I will post again when I get some of this juice in and have a chance to try it. I am hoping I will get one of the orders Sat, it got shipped out this morning.

Thanks everyone for your comments =>

I'm not sure about the carto's as i still am waiting on my order with the kr8 stuff, but i have been happily vaping dekang juices on my 905 for about a month now and have noticed that on the 'lighter' flavors, such as the vanilla, cappuccino, chocolate, chocolate cream, cocoa, and the fruit flavors i have tried, there is a definite alcohol like taste. I would asume this to be the PG. It did take a few days for me to notice this after I completly stopped analogs. on a side note, i ordered a 50ml bottle of the vanilla after trying the 10ml, and noticed less of an alcohol taste and more of a 'soapy' slightly sweater flavor in it... and from what i have read, it is prob got a higher concentration of VG...

What MG of nicotine are you ordering? I get an aftertaste from the higher mg, but not from the lower one's. It's also a lot stronger in the Menthol blend than the coffee or grape I tried.

I'd say try the new juice using a clean and refill method for the cartomizers and report back. Remove the end caps and flush them with either Vodka or Hot water. Blow out the excess water and let them dry, then fill them with the condom cap (pushing the liquid through with pressure). Let sit a spell then take a puff.

When I first quit analogs and started vaping the only flavors I could taste well were cinnamon and menthol. Didn't matter what brand or which e-cigerette I used.

I'm a little over a month clean from anologs and some days I can taste a slight hint of something bitter in a few, some days I can't. Somedays I LOVE the vanillia prefilled carts for my rn4081 somedays I can't taste them at all. I know my buds are still adjusting as is my sense of smell. Some days...I can smell the overwhelming scent of tabacco lingering in my car and sometimes I don't notice it at all.

I would just suggest to suffer through it, it does get better....waaaay better!
