"Savory." Japanese identified it as "Umami"

Thanks! I told myself I'd remember that one by just remembering the phrase, "Yeah, YOU! And U Mami Too!" but for some reason that never worked. Guess I'll try & hang onto "Savory" instead, and gently butcher one language at a time. :D

I have noticed that all of my Juices have been "sweet" maybe i need to switch to something sour and see what happens... Belgium waffles seem to have some sort of texture.. it may be what you are looking for.. it is almost "thick" and you can almost feel it in your mouth.. but i dont get any flavor lol

I'll have to try the Belgian Waffle... I *think* I have a flavoring for it I haven't even tried yet (got a bunch of those). Anyway someone who's been around awhile suggested alternating between very different flavors, allowing one to sort of kick-start the other (my interpretation). Supposedly the contrast makes each flavor stand out more, and that makes sense. If you haven't already, you might want to give that a try. Another one to try (if you haven't) is something heavy in cinnamon, cloves, etc. though I understand these thing wreak havoc on your cartos and are not advisable at all in plastic stuff. Keep on Vapin!

peppermint/menthol is entirely a smell. Smell receptors just work so closely with our taste buds it can be hard to differentiate what we are tasting vs what we are smelling. It does produce a sensation on the tongue. Interesting to see if someone without a sense of smell can enjoy mints.

As it happens I do enjoy mints/menthol, and I have no idea why. I can't smell anything; the nerves have been severed going through my skull into my nose, but I can *taste* mint & menthol on my tongue. I wonder what that is? "Savory" perhaps? or some combination? I have no idea. I know I didn't like menthol in cigarettes but enjoy vaping it now & then, especially if all I have is tobacco flavors. BTW my favorite juice yet is Sweet-Vapes' "Chocolate Fudge Brownie". I've been trying to replicate it but they know a trick I haven't found yet, and that stuff's got everything I want in a juice at 80/20, 2.4%nic. :D

Juices should have "flavor" which is a combination of taste, smell, texture(non-existent with vapor), and other things. You also have a preconceived notion of what "mint" should taste like or "cookie" or whatever it is..and this also plays a role in what you taste/smell.

Chef's have to have a very keen sense of smell because its a huge part in determining taste...so yeah, we are probably all "smelling" the vapor more than tasting it.

So I took some of y'all advice and made up a slightly more (tart?) flavor..and it worked!..well working haha.. i made some raspberry and i could somewhat taste it.. it isnt full on yet but it is a start lol

I was in a pinch and couldnt find any Lorann flavorings in my whole city ( weird because down town Savannah is known for its bakery's and fine dinning)
so i actually bought some mcCormick extract.. i know i know it isnt ideal.. but like i said i was in a pinch... it isnt very strong.. but vaped none the less so there is hope !

on a side note.. i was at the mall..came across one of those evil mall vendors selling those WAY high priced E-cigs..there was a few people looking at those things.. I thought " hey may as well pick up a few addys.. so i asked if he sold the 510's he was all yep!! i said i need 2 please...this cat said 50 bucks!!! I was like no really...how much?.. he said $50.00 for the 2....i stared at him.. he stared at me..i stared at him..he stared at me.. and I lol'ed and walked off..end of story have a great evening

lol thank you for the avatar comment haha

as far as flavor in my diy I have only been going about 15% but i have tried 20% and i get great smell but no real taste..I have seen that others have suggested to try to switch up .. i was looking at my juices and it seems i have some what of a sweet tooth lol.. so im going to move to tart maybe that will kick in..i am looking in to a really good PV mod now.. it could be my tornado (ego) just isnt up to par i may need to bump it up to a higher volt..it kills me to see all these folks smacking their gums with delight haha ..Im not quite sure which mod I will get but I will be getting a cartoless tank to go on it.. i am in desperate search of the taste from my juice.. i will do what it takes
First I have to say that your avatar is hysterical, good one! ... Now, I am super surprised to hear you say that you can't taste your juice. Smoking can and does deaden your senses, but to taste nothing??

The juices you have purchased may be very light on flavor, as well as your DIY mixes .... What flavor percentage are you using on average to mix your juice?? I start most mixes at 20% (which is considered strong flavor) and move up or down from their based on results.

I myself am a flava lova, so I cannot tolerate a no flavor juice, and aside from cost, flavor is the other reason I decided to DIY because I must taste my juice :p

I have not tried the menthol on my ego.. i did try it in one of those cheap store bought automatic ones and wasn't really impressed ( but that is kinda cheap so)...and i just cant stand the taste of mint so mint is a no go for me :( (yeah i know menthol ...but it isnt the same as mint lol)
Have you tried a mint or mint/menthol blend? PinkSpotVapors has a really tasty peppermint/menthol juice called Snowman's Kiss. I could taste it even with my fried tastebuds. Now after a month+ the flavors I have are more pronounced.

Yeah , I have seen/heard/read a lot about voltage affecting the flavor.. so I am hoping when i step up ( shopping now) to a VV Pv I will beable to dial in on the lip smacking goodness that everyone seems to enjoy wish me luck
Sweet taste like a mouthful of sugar + Cinnamon = Vaporbomb's Cinnabomb Redhots candy or Big Red Chewing gum flavor IMO

I am looking into this as well... I reccomend hunting the DIY Forums

Don't Forget that Voltage and which atomizer used have a lot to do with flavor / intensity too.

Well the other thing I noticed in one of your post is that you were looking for Lorann flavors , and for me that is your culprit right there! For the life of me I cannot understand how Lorann flavors rose to the popularity they have because in my honest opinion the flavoring are not good, and for me they completely lack any depth of appreciable flavor.

With Lorann I get the "essence" of a flavor and chemicals  ... Capellas is of far better quality than Lorann's, as well as many others.

The Perfumers Apprentice has "some" good flavors, as well as Flavour Art ... but again they are not as good and as consistent across the board as Capellas, which is full on flavor, smell, and lacks strong chemical or perfumey overtones ... do yourself a favor and give them a shot. I too have a very sweet palate ;-)

I heard there was a really chemical flavor in the Loranns...i have never tried it before but it seems to be "the thing" i have been buying my flavors from bluemistvaping.com.. i mean they arnt bad (smelling) but i suspect are rather weak... I just ordered about 10 bottles from flavour art..i hope that will remedy the taste issue...and.. i did get some rather spiky ones like Lemon red hots etc but also got my sweet tooth in a good mood haha

So I just saw where you said that about flavour art... wish i woudl have seen this post before i ordered... but i guess you can never have to much liquid eh?...ill pick up a few bottles from Capellas tomorrow as well :)

Awesome! that seems pretty affordable on the bluemist site i paid 20 bucks for 5 X 10 Ml bottles

:) Reading this got me interested in trying some Capella's flavors, so I googled my way to CapellasFlavorDrops. They have a 5 for $20 deal here is link. I don't know if that is ongoing deal or not but I ordered 5 13ml flavors for $23.72- seems like a pretty good deal. Thanks.

I'm a sweet tooth too. I'm ordering some Stevia. Apparently, it is a super-sweetner and I was amazed with the sugar taste with my nico...

As far as the Menthol goes, I was surprised to find that I like it without sweetner. I just got some "High Caliber" Icy menthol, and while it's not Marlboro light menthol, it's really nice in a PV. Something I could use all day.

I never had an EGO, but I did have one of those "Mall Cart" type PV's and I graduated to a 3.7v Bolt from Mad Vapes. It's been good to me. things I have learned, thus far.

While nice, the 3.7v Bolt is just-plain not variable. I will be ordering my Provari if I don't win the Valentines day contest (Looooong shot)
CE2 cartomizers are nice, but the coil is too high up in it and it pops hot juice in mah mouth, which hurts a little.
I absolutely love my Tankomizer, although the carts sometimes take a while to soak up the juice and begin the syphon process.
Cinnabomb, while sweet as a mouthful-of-sugar has the cinnamon tounge effect (kills the tastebuds and everything tastes like cinnamon)
Menthol flavors are all about perspective.

Still learning how things work, but PV's are definintely my new nicotiene delivery system..

That is actually an awesome deal for Capellas flavors, and they tend to switch up their promotions a lot too ... the best one I got was 12 bottles for $37.00, the only downfall was that the flavors were pre selected, but at least they contained my Favs which are Cinnamon Danish, Sweet Strawberry and Graham Cracker.

And FYI, being that these were originally formulated to flavor coffee and teas, don't be afraid to use them for exactly that .. provided you drink coffee :p ... also add them to pancake mix, and yum yum :D

Kewl ......... Flavour Art has a very good rep for their Tobacco flavorings, but I found the fruits, candies, etc to be very hit or miss. Most of their fruits have a very strong perfumey tone which is no bueno :p .. I liked Flavour Arts Cookie (strong), Pandoro Bread, and Butter. Grape, Pistachio, Lychee, Lemon, Croissant, Pear were all fails to me, and I have a few more that I never bothered to mix because they are all fruits.

I will probably mix those into 70% VG mixes because I do find that VG tends to smooth out perfume or chemical notes in flavoring .... anyhoo, good luck with making some juices that you can actually taste ;-)
