Well, the cut down worked out quite well, I'm vaping it on a 78mm manual right now. If you've got a Dremel it'll be much easier to do than using a hacksaw and files. I used a Dremel and cut the carto down to 11/16" overall length using a cutoff wheel. I used a grinding stone to "even" out the cut and take the burrs off the outside. I used a milling tip to clean up the burrs on the inside. I pulled the inner air tube and am using the little drip style tip that comes with a CE3. I flushed it out, thoroughly, to get the metal flakes out, dry burned a little, and it works like a champ. Two drops at a time work great! Total time, under ten minutes.

I'm inspired, I'm gonna give this a shot soon. It sounds like it would work much better than a full-length carto. At the very least, it'll be something to use until I get a 901 atty

My first e-cig setup was a 901 kit from AquaVapor, and their attys are VERY nice--clean, massive vapor production, and long-lasting. I've got one that I've been using pretty much EVERY DAY for nearly 3 weeks--only cleaned it once--and it's still cranking out vapor like a locomotive...

And yes, 901 stuff is thread-compatible with 808 gear, 100%.

And if you want to spend the big bucks and get the Rolls Royce of drip attys, look into an HH-357. Those things are supposed to be the bomb. But at $22 a piece, they damn well BETTER vape like french-kissing an angel. Having never done either (owned/vaped an HH-357 or engaged in heavy petting with a divine messenger from heaven) I can't directly report on either, but the word on the street is that these $22 atties from Cisco and Hana are pure gold. And you can get them in 901 threads, which is even better for us 901 aficionados--not having to use an adapter ROCKS.

(I have no connection to any of these items--I just LOVE the 901 form-factor, and I read/watch a lot of reviews...) ;-)

good deal awsum, I need to get my lazy but down to the basement and get to work on mine. Making lasagna for the Steeler game today though, priorities don't ya know?

If that's meatless lasgna, you're excused! Like I said, it took lesst than 10 minutes to do, just work carfully. Next time I may chuck the carto in a drill and spin it as I cut it off so the cutoff will be very straight rather than having to grind it straight.

Being cheap, I think this is an excellent solution. You can see the coil very easily and it cost me nothing at all, other than a few minutes with the Dremel. I will have a whirl at cleaning the coil later today or tomorrow. Having a pile of 808 cartos hanging around now that I use CE3s and clearos it gives them a whole new costructive purpose since I'm into DIY.

I didn't mention that I had stripped the wrap off the carto befor I started. They are, or appear to be, stainless or brush finish underneath. I'll try to get some pictures and post them tomorrow.
