I read so many posts about this or that yet I never see a post saying what prompted you to try E-Cigs as your smoking alternative. Please share what made you look for these wonderful gadgets. Share your experience or opinions please.

I had 4 reasons my daughters :) my second youngest told me "Daddy I don't want you to die from cancer!" melted my heart. I decided to search far and wide for something that would work tried the gum and patches with no luck.

I've been trying to quit cigarettes for what seemed like forever. Quit at one time for 5 years and picked up the habit again like I've never quit. Tried patches and gum, just didn't seem to work.

About a year and a half ago, I read about the e-cig on the internet. At that time, there were few options and information on it was sketchy at best.

The new tax for cigs went into effect on 4/1 and I just had enough with the rising prices. I then got serious about quitting and the e-cig. Saw a few vids on youtube about them, found this forum and the rest is history. When my e-cig arrived I just bought a pack of smokes. I smoked my last cig while putting it together and to this day that pack of smokes are still in my office drawer.

My daughter is delighted that I have been analog free and she feels better that cigarettes is not going to take me away from her.

One of my students (I'm a college professor) showed me the one he bought. I love gadgets and I really wanted to quit smoking. I've been a 2-3 pack a day smoker for the last 40 years. It took me about a month to finally order one but once I got it that was it. I haven't had a cigarette since my first battery finished charging 33 days ago. My best friend ordered hers a week later and my son ordered his last week. Now I only have one more son to convince and we will all be smoke-free.

One simple reason. SCHIP. I have no intention of quitting smoking, but also had no intention of paying for the health care of other people's kiddies. If nothing else, I thought the e cig would serve as a suitable occasional alternative...and was shocked at how quickly it reduced my regular smoking with virtually no real effort. I still have not quit smoking completely, and probably won't, but use my e cig as much if not more than analogs. Down to between 10 and 15 cigs a day (from 2 packs or so) and would probably cut down more, except for the difficulty of finding e cig supplies due to the fear of a looming FDA smackdown.

My husband's been a non-smoker for as long as I've known him (20 years). I've quit, quit, and quit again and again.....but always went back.

I found a random link in a Google web-ad, did some research while I dragged my feet - finally jumped in after I found this forum, and, again, never looked back, never want to look back, and WILL go to no-nic & the I-inhale if I have to.......

In the meantime - I will continue to be hell on wheels on my keyboard to increase public awareness of the freedoms our government is set on taking from us!

I tried them on a whim. My sister-in-law was accosted by SE in our local Mall. She tried their demo unit but didn't buy it, however, she did tell me that she was surprised by how good it was. That basically planted the seed for me, because I had been wanting to stop smoking cigarettes for quite some time. I did some investigating online and one day after lurking on the forum for a while I decided to place an order for a 901. I stopped smoking cigarettes about a week after my first e-cig arrived in the mail.

Hello! I just got my first e-cig Monday, I have not had a analog cig seance then. I live in Madison WI. and listen to talk radio the host of my fav show is Vicky McKinna. She is always trying to quit smoking and has tried everything. She was talking about e-cigs a while back and said that it was really working for her. I when home and googled c-cigs found this board and bought the Health E-cigarettes in the green and white box. Well it is working for me so far, I have my fingers crossed :)

Costco ad for NPro. Would have bought that if in the store but since I had to order online I began researching them which brought me here.

Why did I want to try it?

1) My husband never smoked. His mother did and died of lung cancer so my smoking really upset him. Also, a certain amount of guilt for shrouding him in my 2nd hand smoke.

2) Because of the negativity and restrictions placed on smoking I dreaded going anywhere that meant I would have to go without them. I tried but couldn't quit so I felt like a slave to cigarettes.

3) The health aspect. After 30 years of smoking who knows what my odds are but at least I will have taken a step in the right direction.

First noticed them on a news clip of the tech show in LasVegas in 2008. Seriously started looking at them in Jan. 2009. Found this forum. Had never joined a forum before. Had a win at the Casino and bought my first one Jan. 15. Didn't even think of quitting. Just wanted to get people off my back and have more options for smoking. I love to smoke. First drag and it was the first time in 34 years-2 packs a day-that I seriously thought I could have a shot at quitting. Took me 3 months before I trusted the ecig to be there for me, but I've been analog free since April 24!!

After smoking for over 30 years and trying to stop countless times, I was seriously considering hypnosis to get me away from cigarettes after hearing positive reports from friends.

My main consideration with (hopefully) replacing analogues with PVs is to improve my health. Being asthmatic and smoking, the last few years has seen my intake of medication increase alarmingly. The many reports of people's success with reducing or replacing analogues has already made me feel very positive about the possibility of freeing me from the chains of tobacco smoking.

The financial aspect is of lesser importance, especially after reading how much people are investing in their new addiction.

My first PV (Dura C) will be arriving today or tomorrow. I will let you know how it all goes.
