I'm really sorry for your troubles, M/M Jaxx. You are probably one of the most reliable suppliers I've dealt with, and your flavors are excellent.

Having run a small business for several years, I can relate, but the idea of "outing" people like this by name has its legal ramifications, as we found out when a group of our fellow tradespeople floated the idea years back.

That said, it's not a bad idea to remind folks on this forum that people out who publicly complain or regularly file disputes may have something other than honest motives, and to take all loud complaints with a grain of salt. And it's a good idea for vendors to compare notes privately to head these customers off, since you can always refuse to sell to anyone for any reason.

Since this also happened to me (with the same buyer), I am going to ask SJ if I can make a post about it....not for name calling or libelling....but just to state the facts of what transpired. I will not lie nor exaggerate....I have no reason to. I will merely state the facts then people can see what went down and draw their own conclusions.

There could be others out there who have gone through the same thing and have not spoken up. If nothing else, it will alert people to the possiblities when selling here....with any buyer, not just her. As someone else said....members call out suppliers when they feel wronged. What's the difference?

I have no problem whatsoever telling the whole story because it will be the truth. And I don't even need to add my own opinion of her....the facts will be the facts and that's all I care to state.

I'm pretty ticked about it right now but I'm not going to let my emotions get the best of me. I am also calling paypal back and asking them to look into it further.

Lu, you've given out enough hints to this person's identity that you should probably just go ahead and say who it was. I mean, it's pretty easy to go into the classifieds and see who you sold a pipe to.

I don't see why you would need to protect this person's identity anyway. It's not slander to say "I got a chargeback on Paypal from ------ and was given no explanation for this." The fact that it has happened to two members by the same person is very alarming.

Anyway, this really sucks. I'm sorry this happened to you and the Jaaxes. I had a small business that almost went under due to a couple of people writing me bad checks at a crucial time. This Paypal thing sounds like a modern version of check kiting.

Unfortunately, you can't tell by my pipe thread because she PM'd me....she didn't respond there.

Personally, I don't want to protect her identity....I am much more concerned about protecting innocent sellers here ("Seller Beware!" comes to mind).

The only thing stopping me is talking to SJ about it first. He's not around right now and I probably should get his OK first. But again, I don't need to make any accusations....just tell what transpired from her first PM and on.

Trust me...when/if I get that OK, the truth will come out.

I think as long as we are allowed to gripe about the sellers that pay to have a forum on here the sellers should be able to warn others when something like this happens. It is only fair and it will ultimately, hopefully, make people stop and think before they do something rotten.

And I agree. Azure even started that thread on the classifieds board to rate buyers/sellers. Seems like that would be the point of that...to let other members know the good and the bad. I don't think this should be any different.

That's cool. I hope he gives you permission. I was thinking about putting some stuff in the classifieds soon but I will definitely wait until I hear who is doing this. I know if I got ripped off by this person and found out that the board administrators knew of her activity and didn't warn the members, I'd be very ....... I would think the liability issue works both ways-you don't want to slander anyone but there is a duty to inform the members if there is reason to believe that they could be scammed.

Well said Pam. I too will not be putting anything in the classified section unless this is revealed. I was thinking of doing that the other day, not sure I'm ready to let go of a few things, but either way, I'll wait.

The person has not been on the forum since the day she disputed our charge. If she were, I would be contacting SmokeyJoe with an urgency! However, anytime anyone sells on the internet there is risk of people being dishonest, making bogus claims, or using stolen credit cards to pay.
