I'm going travelling shortly, for a month around Eastern Europe, and there are some obstacles that may prevent me from vaping.

I've been vaping for about 16 months now, and I don't want to go back to smoking, however I'm not going to let anything get in the way of my trip being (nearly) completely uninhibited and a mind blowing experience. (Not watching what I eat / drinking all I want / Smoking all the smokes / staying up all night / not shaving / loud music, just having a ....ing blast of a time)

How many people have vaped for quite a while, resumed smoking for whatever reason and then returned to vaping.

I found it relatively easy to switch to electronic cigarettes, I had a Protank 2 initially and started on 12MG, now I’m using a Subox mini (0.5 Ohm, 3 MG, Max VG) so I imagine if I come back to a better tank than my initial switch, and went to a higher nicotine level for a little while it should be ok.

If anyone has had luck with doing this I’d be really keen to hear from you, also, If you have done something similar and reverted back to smoking I’d also like to hear from you.

Thanks heaps!

Hi and welcome to ECF!

Unfortunately, I don't have the experience you need ... but one thing I'm intrigued is the taste of cigarettes when you have been vaping for so long.

Cigarettes to vaping is fairly easy IMHO, since most of the chemicals in cigarettes are not present in vape.

:vapor:
I think you're right on that one, vaping does taste better :)

Yea, Singapore won't let me take them through, and when I get to Europe I'll probably be unable to charge it at some points.

You can do some research on vapor stores in your destination before the trip, maybe you can find your supply there without returning to smoking :)
Or send your gears to the destination and receive it while you're there, then ship them back at the end of the trip if destination airline prohibit them, too. :) but the freight may be as much as the gear itself I don't know.

Guess they don't have Usb ports over their or plugs for the wall that take Usb ports. Buy a esmoke over their and leave it there but if you just want a reason to smoke again, "have at it." Smoking would be a non issue for me. Did not stop after 42 years to take that risk of starting back up. I would be taking one with me and leave it on the plane and buy new one first place I could. Even if it ment a cig-a-like. Take some Nicotine patchs or Nicorette gum to get between. CHEERS!

Wish you luck with this.

Have you taken into consideration that smoking might ruin your "free for all" experience?

I seriously considered smoking instead of vaping, mainly because of the hassles of traveling with vapes. At one point, circumstances dictated that I had to smoke or go without. In the end, I couldn't stand the idea of a cigarette and went without for about awhile till I could get the vapes going again.

Never dreamed I'd have that kind of willpower...

In all honesty, not really, I kinda just switched to vaping without any issue, it was super easy for me, so I can't imagine it being that difficult.
And I'm not looking for approval, more just has anyone else done the same thing.

Thank you :)

I think it's a bad idea all around actually , just being honest , not trying to spoil the party. Many people claim that going back to regular cigs after vaping a long time is an awful experience , they say it taste horrific .

If that is true, ( i don't buy this actually, to me i don't think it would bother me) but if it does turn out to be true that means your switching won't work out at all but like i said i am very iffy about it .

I don't like the idea because i have a feeling i would really like it again and starting to smoke even if it was planned to be temporary would make me feel like a failure .

Just my opinion of course

I don't have experience with going from vaping full time to smoking and back again, but I did quit cigarettes for 4 years... except "special occasions" like trips to Vegas. Then I'd smoke like a chimney the whole time, throw away whatever might be left before I got on the plane, and didn't have any trouble going cold turkey once we got home. It was something about knowing it was just a temporary thing and not being in my normal routine that made it a non-issue.

My downfall was when I started stretching the limit of what counted as a "special occasion". First it was just trips, then it was trips and concerts, then it was when we'd have friends over for drinks on the weekends, and eventually it turned into an everyday thing again. So my thoughts are you'd probably be fine, but it can be a "slippery slope", so-to-speak.

Be prepared for a glaring reminder of how crappy they make you feel... The raw throat, heavy lungs, the way you smell afterwards will all be reminders of why you quit in the first place :D

Depends on the devices you are bringing.

If you have a Cheapo Mech mod, I would bring that, Disassembled... If you do not have a Mech mod... Bring something else disassembled. put everything except the batteries in your checked baggage. They wont be able to know about juice in your checked, now will they really care, as you are clearly not trying to sell it. it seems like you have a connection in Singapore, but are not staying there long term? You should be Okay with carrying it if you only have a connection and dont plan on leaving the airport..

But all stuff in your checked baggage will be sufficient. If you need to smoke and cant access your stuff.... then do it I guess
But... speaking from Exp. in Nov.... I was travelling. Smoking was easier. The travel was for a week and a half. The smoking lasted 3.5 months.

If you bring your USB cable and a computer or tablet or something of course you can charge it. Maybe even buy a cheap wall plug to use with the USB cable?
As far as I know there are no problems with traveling with vape gear in Europe, but remember to put your liquids in clear bottles of max 100ml and I think you're supposed to also have the mod in your hand luggage and not in your suitcase.

It would be fairly easy for me to stop vaping for awhile if I new it was for a limited time. I would try not to smoke during that time and get some gear as soon as I could. Remember, it's not just the nicotine you crave, it's the combination of chemicals and additives cigarette companies add to keep you addicted.

As mentioned above, slippery slope. That's how I started smoking again after quitting a few times.

First it was bumming a cigarette, then buying a pack. Once I did that I lost all my will power and resigned myself to being a smoker.

Being an X smoker who had a very rough time quitting cold turkey but stayed the course. I had a regular cigarette one day after a big meal and spent the rest of the evening washing my hands over and over and trying to get the stink of the smoke off of me. Just my opinion or personal experience. Good luck with whatever you decide and they make converters you can plug in the wall sockets.

I did that last summer. I had just taken up vaping and was down to 2 cigarettes a day. Then we went to Greece. I brought all my vaping stuff with me. I had the plug adapters. I had every intention of vaping and not smoking. But there was so much traveling involved. Packing and unpacking and repacking. Leaks every single time. It was such a hassle, and Greece is a very smoking-friendly place, and cigarettes are really cheap. I was right back up to 2 packs a day within a few days.

As soon as I got home I went back to vaping again. I had to wean myself off the smokes - I've never been good at going cold turkey. But it wasn't a problem. It was definitely easier the second time than it was the first. I can't allow myself "just one, just this time" when I'm at home. "just one" leads to "just one more", which is really hard to stop. I've been on two other trips since then, and I've stuck with vaping.
