Heya everyone. I am really tired tonight, so I won't be around for long. I did start back-reading, but I don't think I have time tonight to finish.

I hope Pokes is resting up from her big day yesterday. She PM'ed me earlier and told me that she loved what I did in my Riva Kit review. She also complimented me on my reviews, and really thinks that they are quality. She can see an improvement in them, since I started. I  my Pokes.

I did see the conversations about pharmacy. Since that is my field, I wanted to touch on that, just a little. Before I start, remember to always suport your independent pharmacy. They are not only better, but they also the people that pay my paycheck! :D

TT, I noticed that you said that one of your Wally Worlds was really nice, and discussed your meds with you. That process is call Prescription Drug Counseling, and I think it may be required by the Texas Board of Pharmacy. I know it is required for all Medicaid prescriptions. It may actually be required on all new prescriptions. Refills don't usually require them, since you would have been counseled on your first fill. Now, some states allow "Do you have any questions about your medication" to be fulfilling those requirements.

Anyway, as far as the major chains go, Wally World is ranked the worst in fill times, but they have the lowest pricing. A couple of years back, they teamed up with Humana, where Humana put the Wally World logo on their cards, and put wording on them, to make customers think that they had to get them filled at Wally World. After the dust from the first partnership settled, Walmart and Humana went at it again. Here is a quick article about that: http://www.caller.com/news/2011/jul/11/small-pharmacies-claim-they-cant-compete-with/?print=1

CVS purchased Caremark (one of the largest prescription coverage plans), and forced its customers to use them to fill their script for anything over 30 days. They are also forcing customers to use their mail-order. Many of the things they are doing are considered unethical (class action lawsuits are pending). Here is a quick article I found: Independent Pharmacists Support Lawsuit against CVS Caremark | Business Wire

Walgreens is still okay, but they are hurting. All of the chains are central fill -- the script gets scanned in, and the central office handles the data entry and adjudication -- so the pharmacist and techs just fill the bottles, and talk to customers. They are known in the industry for unfair labor (and discrimination), as well as ripping off Medicaid. Nothing better than ripping off the old folks, and the taxpayers!

Anyway, support your local independent pharmacy. They will treat you with better care, than anything you've ever received by the chains. I am on the phone with them, and they know almost all of their customers. I mean they really know them! They know their kids names, grandkids names, all their stories, and all of their meds -- right off the top of their head.

Jerry, you know what I like the most about you. You have 16,000+ posts. Out of all of those posts, you only have about 10 without that popcorn box!
That many ? I need to post more popcorn pics.

Gee LD you said that a whole lot better than I did.

I didn't see your post, but I am sure you did a great job. Hey, arcade auction is on the 24th of March, if you are interested. It is a lot of fun to just go. I am looking to get another machine or two. I want to get back into restoring them. I have taken enough time off due to my back. I have a hurt back, but I am not a hurt back. I am not going to let this thing define me. At least, not anymore.

That's good info LD and I have to agree.

There's a private business in Nacogdoches that we use occasionally that gives excellent and fast service with no hassles. We're forced to go where we can get the best price though, just simply because of the number of Rx's we have. There's some, Spiriva for example, that I'm supposed to take daily but I take it about once every three or four days because we have to pay so danged much when we get the Rx refilled. (Don't tell my wife!!!)

But the prices on some of this stuff is staggering!

TT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are as bad as my mom! There are programs out there to help you with out of pocket expense on the high priced prescriptions. I will send you a link for one for Spiriva :)

You really need to take that as prescribed.

You may find that your independent has better pricing on some. They will usually take a loss on a couple, to make a profit on another. Plus, when you goto the chains, they always charge adjudicated pricing on scripts, if you have insurance. So, if your coverage doesn't cover a med, you pay the premium pricing that the insurance companies pay (usually based on Average Wholesale Pricing aka AWP -- or the newer WAC -- plus dispensing, and 40% markup), but your independent will usually charge you based on their cost (usually cost plus 20%). Not all do this, but many do... if they are running good software.
