Happy Saturday Morning everyone!!
I posted this over on the other VJ site and didn't see any
sense in re-writing the whole thing again, so here's the full fishing report for those of you who don't go to the other site ...
We went to the Sabine River yesterday to get some white bass and ended up doing pretty good after we finally got there.
LOL, you already know that for me things don't happen according to any plan.
I stopped and filled my truck up with diesel then we ran by the bank to see if they had got any money in yet and then the Dollar Store for mosquito repellant and a couple odds and ends. I think it was as we were leaving there that wifey said hey, something on your windshield is expired. I looked and sure enough my inspection sticker had expired last November.
So, we go to the Lube Rack because they have inspection stickers and they were closed and there was one car waiting. So we go down the street to the guy who owns the Lube Rack and the guy who runs that place was at the dentist getting some teeth pulled.
Okay ... so we go down to another station that has them and the guy has one sticker left and he was just going to put it on his service truck because his sticker was expired. But honey girl got out and laid that big smile of hers on him and starts doing her magic and he agrees to give us the sticker. So we get that done and we're off.
We get to a little town on the Texas - Louisiana line and run into a grocery store that fries really good catfish and sells it. So we get a bunch of fried catfish and some fried okra and sit in the truck and have a late lunch there and then on to the Sabine.
There were a lot of people fishing because the white bass were running and we were using worms like we always do. Well, we were pulling 'em in fast and all those people using catepillars and cut bait and minnows and lures weren't doing so good and they all wanted to know what we were fishing with. Just hard to beat plain, old earthworms for fishing.
Well, now I have all these fish and you know who has to clean them and get them on ice. Yep, old TT. I have one of those things you can attach to your truck battery and run AC appliances off of, so with my handy dandy Bass Pro
shop electric knife I had all those fish cleaned and fileted and packed in ice real quick.
We left the river right at sundown and after arriving back home I got the fish washed off, wrapped and in the freezer. A nice, long, hot shower and a late dinner and we were both ready to give it up for the night.
Lots of fun, lots of fish and a great day ... while all of you were at work. LOL!!
