It would be fun, wouldn't it?
And you know me - true or not, it's all in the telling and the who's telling.

We'd have a large time, no doubt about it. I'd even help you put sunscreen on those poor fishies of yours - the ones that are left, anyways.

Sweet tea, stories, bugs being zapped under the Texas moon, and the man himself. Sigh...

They might miss us here, though, TT. ;)

Yeah, and Pokey I could show you all the constellations of stars in the sky and we could watch the Space Station go by and look for those danged round flying things that land down behind the barn sometimes. (I wonder if they stop by just to use the outhouse??)

And if the rest of them got to missing us, they'd just have to load up and come visit too. I've got a lot of places to sit in this house because I like to sit and I like to have a place to sit real handy.

Hey Ever1ast, good morning! There's a fresh-made pot of coffee right out there in the kitchen, just pour yourself a cup and come sit and visit!

Those poor kids ... starting school in August. When I was a kid we never started until right after Labor Day ... of course we were pretty smart kids. Just look at me now. A successful Fortune Telling business and I've been selling lemonade like crazy out there on the paved road! Making money hand over fist. (Any idea what that means?)

Stars, the Space Station, and aliens.
All with TT at my side - who could want for anything more?

They'll all be clamoring to join us after catching up on the thread - I'm glad you've got lot's of room.
You just got to remember, though, once we get there, we may not want to leave. Are you prepared for that???

Later, my friend, coffee's gone, paper's read, and it's nearly time for a Pokey Nap. :)

Just c'mon! You'd probably like it so much out here in the country that I'd have to get a stick to chase you away anyhow.

And I don't have a stick!

Have a nice Pokey nap and once again, Congratulations! You're my Champion!

Before going to bed, I will share this excerpt from my email from a Texan:
" I missed Lomita (my cat) sneaking into the car when I left this morning. By the time I got back to the car at noon, Lomita had died and swollen up like a shopping bag, then popped like a water balloon. The car now smells like Kibbles and Sh....ts".
"Tried to run some errands after work. Wore shorts and when I sat on the seat in the car, my skin melted to seat. I lost 2 layers of flesh and all the hair on the back of my legs and .........now my car smells like burnt hair, fried ... and baked cat."

Reminds me of a true story... Last summer we got a new hand surgeon in our hospital. He had left the door to his van open for a minute to unload something. Unbeknownst to him, a neighborhood cat got in and he closed the door. Sadly, the cat succumbed to the heat (this really is sad to me because I love cats). When other surgeons in the hospital heard about this, they found his van... put crime scene tape around it.... did a chalk outline of a cat on the pavement beside of it. Some nurses in the OR made "missing" posters with cat pictures on them and posted them in the OR. People in the medical field have been accused of having a warped sense of humor... ;)

Humm, I wonder why people in the medical field have been accused of having a warped sense of humor? Gosh, I just realized ... I might be finding out soon. Maybe I'd better be a little nicer to medical field people. Uuuhh, maybe I'd better be a whole lot nicer to medical field people.

And maybe I'd better be nicer to cats too.

OK----now I am jealous of several of these posts. TT likes "younger women". Man, that means I will never be invited down there....and I so wanted to meet the people at the feed store and check out the sewage plant. And Pokey gets to experience all the great stuff TT so eloquently described. These posts made me add Baileys to my morning coffee to help me get through my anxiety and jealousy.

I am so upset, I don't even know if I can finish my laundry.

LOL, gramva, I'd never ask your age but I'm nearly certain you are one of those "younger women" too.

I'll be 70 in October and sometimes I feel like the "Old Man of the Sea" on ECF.

I just have a young heart and have zero plans on being one of those cranky, old men!

So don't be upset hon and believe me, there's room in my big, old arms for you too.

AAAAAAAAWWWWWW.......I think I am in love. (and right behind you in age--close enough that you would not be considered an "older man".

And one of my biggest pet peeves is older people with chips on their shoulders. Like the world owes them cause they made it so long......gives us youngsters at heart a bad name.

Good Morning gang. I'm apparently late to the breakfast bar...you've all gone off to shop, work & nap already.
Congrats on the 1000 likes TT ! If I'd known there was a prize, I'd have liked you MORE !!!

The sad cat in van story reminds me of my own interaction last year with the fine dispatchers at 911. There were 2 giant coyotes roaming my street, which I'd never seen before in the 17 years I've lived here in suburbia. In my panic I called 911 to see if the wildlife/animal control folks would need to know. The dispatcher said that they didn't do anything about coyotes unless they were acting aggressive to humans. Then he "helpfully" went on to ask me if I'd noticed all the missing cat & small dog posters tacked to the telephone poles around town...I said "well, I guess I have"...to which he responded "OK then, now you know why the coyotes are so big."... I hung up feeling a little ill, and now, I keep my cat indoors.

Yep....kitties are some of their favorite food. Keep mine indoors also. But momma .... and her 7 babies come every night to eat so they did not get eaten. The babies are now teenagers. Maybe they won't tangle with a ........I think coons might be able to cause enough bodily injury to them that coyotes are afraid to tackle them Every night right after sundown, we can hear the coyotes howling and yipping but never see them in the daylight, but there are plenty of them here. My sister in Arizona had a coyote jump the fence and kill her little minpin in the back yard of her home. They ran him off before he could eat the poor little guy.

That is so sad :( But we are ousting these poor creatures from their natural habitat and they have no choice but to adapt to what we throw at them :( No easy solution I know but when I see vacant strip malls right next door to huge malls and stores where they had to tear down more trees to build it just makes me sick.

Salem, you sound like me....when we built in the country years ago (we did not tear down any trees), I told my husband I planned on feeding anything that comes here that is hungry...we are taking away their homes and their feeding grounds and I feel so sorry for all the animals who are stuck trying to survive on what we have left them. I have fed coons, rabbits, skunks, possums, cats, and who knows what else comes to the feeding bowls I put out. If I could give you more "likes" for your post, I would hit that button until carpel tunnel of the arm set in.

Good evening all: Hope you all had a good day. I helped a friend slice cucumbers to make pickles--did not cut one single finger off, so it was a good day for me.

Me too. We only have 15 acres and I let hubby clear about 5 but the other 10 he is not allowed to touch! It is the small part that I am able to do to help the wild life and I am doing it :)
tg is working now but I think that she is alot like us. Everyone else here just thinks that we are crazy lol

Disclaimer- I have never chained myself to a tree to avoid having it cut down but I have thought about it if that counts :)
