Sdh, I babysat for people like that when I was a teenager. The guy was a country singer who wore rhinestone bedazzled suits and had a large ugly mustache. I always made the wife drive me home. She was a piece of work too, who overshared wayyyy to much detail with a 15yo me!
(Even worse, I remember they had this lovely home, but the kids were not allowed to sit on the furniture. They could only sit on the floor to watch TV. (the television, not technovapir!). )

Techno, that sounds scary! I was trapped on a sail boat once with my dads cousin. I was 14. It was so awkward. I didn't want to go sailing. My parents made me! Argg. He was a weird man. I was willing to drown if he did anything weird. He lectured me about his religious beliefs.
I went back & fixed it. That would drive me nuts. I guess I was typing so fast I didn't notice the squiggly red lines!!!So reading back that would mean I spelled it correctly.....HmpH So much for forum spell check...
Ok, that is just sick..... I said I prolly looked like that at one time.....but I certainly never behaved that way! Sorry you guys were subjected to sicko behaviors like that as young ladies.... That is simply NOT RIGHT!!

Yuck. That would be awful to be trapped like that. I don't think parents thought about sending their kids off into these situations as much back in the 70's. My parents pretty much forced me to babysit for anyone with kids & dollar bills.
I am really surprised when I remember back, about how many of the 30+something women I babysat for, talked to me about their marriages & under-the-covers type details when I was so young. I mean YUCK. I'd never do that!
The strange thing that happened to that man. In 1981 he was changing a flat tire in the parking lot. Someone ran over his legs. He ended up with severely broken legs-they were crushed. I never found out anything else. I don't wish harm on others. However, sometimes things happen for a purpose.

Thats OK SC. I LIKE to mind my spelling. My job destroyed all my spelling & grammar skills due to heavy use of acronyms and computer codes...so I am always working at reviving my skills!
Also, regarding babysitting in the 70's. That is when I began smoking. I had 1 lady with 2 babies, who would always leave an open pack of "True Blues" out for me. I don't know why she thought that was cool, but it did give me something to do at midnight, when I was trying to stay awake until they got home. No computers or VHS movies back then ya know!

Your right Techno. I would have freaked out! What do you say to a older woman who's talking about private information. I did the babysit gig once. The two little cute but devilish kids were horrible. The youngest locked herself in the bathroom. She ate a package of ex-lax. There was no way I would continue watching these kids. I called the mom ASAP. I am not cleaning poo from a 4 year old.
