TFA cowboy blend

Start with 5% cowboy and 1% rum or bourbon. Let it steep and adjust in 1% increments if nessessary. It's always better to start low and work your way up. Expecially if your unfimilure with the flavors your using.

Oh yeah. I started at 3% plus 2% EM. Now I wait.....if I am way off,, it'll take quite a while. Tweak, steep, wait, test, repeat. I was just hoping to find someone who has worked with it before. The nose on the flavoring is quite nice, which leads me to believe that it's not too concentrated. Most very concentrated tobaccos smell awful straight out of the bottle

Sitting down, facing forward.
I made a test sample 5ml, using 2.5% Cowboy and 2.5% ethyl maltol. After a week, it produced a dry tobacco flavor that wasn't too bad, just not my idea of an ADV. I have also started adding it to my regular ADV at .5% and just a hint comes through. It seems quite strong, at least to me.

Thanks for the feedback. is it really a "blend", or more of a straight tobacco?

Just started DYI so take this for what its worth. 5% TFA Cowboy Blend in 100% VG at 18mg nic. A hot bath after mixing and shaken every day for 2 weeks. I have to say I am very surprised with the nice taste it has. It is like a nice smooth cigar with some floral tones. It has a great TH and could very well make it in my ADV rotation. This would be a really nice for mixing other flavors, very smooth.

Having no idea which percentage to use and starting at 5% could mean you'd have to add another 15% to get the desired taste. So, your target nicotine level is off.
I find it easier to start out high and dilute with a pre-made flavorless base liquid containing the right amount of nicotine and PGA/water. The final result will be exactly what you wanted.

I don't test any new flavor with nicotine.....if it is a complete dud, I've wasted my precious nic :D

Once I find the right percentage for me, then I make a new batch using the nic ;)

I made up a batch on 10/2/13 of 10% TFA Cowboy Blend 70/30. Smells good, like a fresh pack of cigarette smell. I am letting it steep for two weeks before I try it. I did add it at 5% to a tobacco mix that didn't turn out out right and it made it vapable, maybe even good. I added 4% menthol though, and now I can't taste it for some reason...? The flavor was good enough that I had to order 6 more from wizardlabs, if that says anything, lol! Vaping the last of if atm. Vape on!

I would suggest leaving the EM out until it finishes steeping. You will find it most likely don't need it. You can use smooth or vape wizard to take the edge off if it's to harsh.

Agree! From my standpoint, it's a waste of time, money & effort to add any type of additive to a new flavor...particularly the additives that are known to seriously alter flavor (like EM, Vape Wizard, Smooth).

If you add EM/other at the beginning, then you're basically stuck with it (and stuck with not knowing how the actual flavor really tastes/vapes). On top of that, if you add a flavor (a flavor you already "know" without the EM/other - and are *sure* will work), when you add it to the EM/other mix it can change the flavor of the one you were sure would work.

Slow, steady, patient & logical ALWAYS wins the race (and makes the best vapes) in DIY!

I find nicotine level playing a huge role in overall taste experience. Leaving it out when testing a new mix would be like leaving out salt when trying a new cooking recipe. But that's just my opinion :)

yes...it does change the flavor a bit....but without it you can still get a feel for the flavor.....if it's horrible without, adding nic is not gonna make it brilliant. I personally hate wasting the nic as it's the more expensive component in the mix. On top of that, the method of disposal of it warrants some concern for me.

We're talking a few milliliters here. I would change "more expensive" to "less cheap" in this case.
