I recently started vaping two months ago and have been analog free since then. But the concerns about the health and safety of this new habit have been bothering me the more I learn (especially this last week). I get very obsessive over things, especially new hobbies. I just want to Thank everyone that posts here because without you guys/girls I may have given up on vaping recently (after learning about Diacetyl and its other forms like acetoin). My girlfriend and I tried DIY not long ago and had success, but I wanted to try a lot of vendors and kind of ignored the good juice she made (she is studying bio-chemical engineering). It is strange that it seems all of you are all way ahead of the game in finding "safer-flavors". I know no one is 100% sure of what we are really doing to ourselves, we2Rcool had a post that really spoke to why I do this and why I want to continue doing this. But it is nice to see people out there who are really taking care to not take unnecessary risks and still enjoying this new phenomenon without relying on vendors. Maybe I took this whole thing to seriously, maybe not seriously enough. But with the information you guys are providing and through some research I have been doing I personally feel much better about continuing to use this as a way to stay away from analogs (for now).

Now to really begin diving into this forum. We ordered from wizard labs for our first DIY, but I see most of you use INawera, FA, or TFA. Which would be a good company to order from for our second attempt? Preferably one where it is easy to discern which liquids contain diacetyl or acetoin, since we are new to this and probably would misread something in the beginning. Anyway, glad you guys/girls are out there, looking forward to making my own concoctions and trying some of your recipes. Like I said, I know this is not some miracle solution, and I know I am still taking plenty of risk. But I think I will personally feel better making my own solutions.

Welcome.

Glad your finding this forum helpful and the fore mentioned flavor manufactures are a very safe selection as far as flavoring. As long as you continue to buy from reputable venders such as the ones frequently referred to on this forum your concerns about safety should be minimized but if your unsure about something it is always a good idea to pose the question to the forum members. There a great bunch of folks that are eager to help.

Yeah, cannot remember which of his posts I read first but it really summed up everything I was worried about and put it into perspective for me. Can understand the argument that most of us smoked and it HAS to be safer, but I switched to spend more years with the people I care about and live a healthier life style. If I can do that by making a conscious decision to not ingest something bad for me then I will. I mean I have been vegetarian for over a decade and I participate in a triathalon each year. At the end of the 5k (after a 400 meter swim and 13.5 mile bike ride) I was the only one smoking a damn cigarette after the race. And holy ...., my lungs would feel something I cannot even put into words. So really want to be as safe as I possibly can, because since turning 25 two years ago I have really wanted to quit smoking and live a healthier lifestyle. Dannyv45, some of your comments were also super helpful, and glasseye along with a bunch of others (think Hoosier was one of them). Also Face Meat, a GG Allin fan, my god. That is awesome, I am not a die hard fan of his, more of a novelty thing for me but do love his music and almost everything about how crazy he is. Saw We Are 138 and then looked at your pic, lol, awesome. Thanks for the nice welcome guys, will check the forum out to see what vendors I have in stock are relatively safe, since it will take me awhile to stock up on some new DIY stuff. Got to get my bio-chemical engineer of a girlfriend to start making some stuff for me. She did make me a mango sticky rice, told her that was a flavor profile I wanted to try and she nailed it. Was delicious.

Wizard Labs is actually really good with labeling those flavorings that contain/may contain amounts of the chemicals mentioned. You have to click on the flavor and look at the details page, it'll say there.. (that's for the tfa section.. I haven't really ordered much from Lorann's, didn't like them personally.) You're getting TFA samples through Wizard Labs (really smart idea when you're starting. Get sample sizes and figure out what you like, then buy larger amounts of your favorites.) You can find the same list of flavorings that contain acetyl propionyl, diacetyl or acetoin. I've also recently been told (here of course) that FlavourArt has gone to great lengths to remove the above chemicals from all of their flavors intended for e juice use. Pretty cool. Any that still have it are clearly labeled on their website.

Perfumer's Apprentice

^^^ a little learning material if you haven't seen it yet.

Yeah, saw that perfumer's apprentice thing, very helpful. Thanks so much for the info on wizard labs. Will check what we ordered with their site to see what is safe to use. FlavourArt seems like a great spot.

^^ carries sample sizes of the FlavourArt flavorings.. ;)

I am looking at flavourart's web page which says they label all of their liquids which contain diacetyl, but I have probably clicked through 50 custard/buttery flavors and have not seen a warning. Am I missing something?

You're probably in the Electronic Cigarette section, which shows only the flavorings without diacetyl and related diketones. Choose from those and all is well.

If you go to Kitchen Magic from the main page, you'll see that warning in the description for some flavors. (look under Savory, Cheddar Cheese, for example). Here's a link to the main page: Flavourart - La sartoria degli aromi, aromi alimentari e per sigaretta elettronica made in Italy
