Actually, I never take the foam out of the stirrer once it's made. I just wash the whole dart and dry it on paper towels but hey, if what you're doing is working for you, that's all that matters.;)

Alrighty, I think I need some advice. I went wandering around town and Walmart did not have coffee stirrers or drink stirrers, nor Fluval or the blue foam. I stopped at Officemax and found the stirrers, so now I'm in possession of one thousand straw stirrers at the price of $5  Next stop was Petsmart, and I was still upset that the two McDonald's I stopped in and bought coffee did not have straw stirrers, but flat sticks, Starbucks at my Target, grocery store, and stand alone shop only had bamboo stirrers. So I had spent $6 on coffee, and looking at the blue foam, it was going to cost me $9 for the box, so I ended up with the Fluval water polishing pads at $4 for a small package. Those pads are really thick! How much do I use? I cut a strip 15mm wide, and I cut several stirrers into 13mm lengths. Should I separate the fluval in half thickness wise? Is it better to have a longer fluval puff or straw in the cartridge?

I'm not sure how to answer you on this. I don't know how thick the pads you got are or what they are made of. Are they foam? As far as dimensions go, the Marineland foam is about 1/4" thick so if what you have is foam, cut it to the dimensions in this thread and make sure it's a 1/4" thick .....I guess.

Just wanted to add here that after trying many other cart mods with my 510 (pretty much all versions of PTB, straw w/polyfil, plain blue foam, etc, etc), I finally tried this tonight. I was draggin my feet on it for awhile because it looked too complicated for my feeble mind....BUT....

IT IS A GODSEND! Really. I was getting really frustrated with my vaping experiences...getting zero TH and flavor most of the time, getting a burnt taste after 3 hits, flooding...you name it. I have been sitting here after my very first attempt (with just a few minor adjustments to the foam) and have successfully vaped two carts DRY!! I have actually enjoyed my vaping evening for the first time in a couple weeks without having to refill, top off, try another cart, atty, etc!!! I actually had to put my 510 DOWN, because I was really feeling the nic buzz! Its been awhile since I actually could chain vape successfully long enough to feel it!!:D

I just wanted to encourage anyone who is sitting on the fence with this....if I can figure it out and get it right, ANYONE can. I am now absolutely in love with vaping again! THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

By the way....I used a straw from my kids' Capri Sun juice box and the MarineLand U size blue foam. I tried it both with thinner DeKang juice and thick juice from Tasty Vapor....both worked great....just had to trim a bit more off the foam for the thicker juice to wick!! I am going to go out tomorrow and grab myself some more straws!!

Just went out and bought some of the straws and foam, and like everyone else, I am totally impressed. A couple questions though.

Should the foam stick out of the cart and have the excess tucked into the atomizer or should it be just like a prefilled cartridge with the filter all the way in the liquid chamber?

Also, should I be taking the dart/cartridge off of my atomizer when i'm not using it? I used to drip, so I just kept it together at all times, but I wouldn't want all that liquid to be dripping into the atomizer when it's in my pocket or something. Thanks.
