I finally got around to trying this tonight. Pulled out the blue foam, gave it an evil eye, and whipped up a couple darts. They flood just a little bit when I first put the cart on the atty but I just vape right through that and it's smooth sailing till they're empty. I may have the straws just a hair too long.
A good flowing cart is so much better then dripping.
Drip drip vape vape vape eeeeew drip drip vape gurgle ....!

UD.

I made the blue foam wedgie like in the pic and tried the straw with my 510 but was getting juice coming out of the tip too much. Took out the straw and repacked the wedgie and I haven't had the juice problem since. This was a big fix for me and for the first time am actually enjoying dripping. I still have to reload more frequently perhaps but the atty gets hot anyhow. I am loving the wedgie :pervy:! Hah.

anyone try this on a l88b cart?? I just can't find a good mod the ptb is like 10 puffs, poly is junk.

The best thing I have found is a little bit of blue foam - Rite Size U. If you come across something better, please let me know.

Since the opening on my DSE801 cart is about twice the size of my 901, I'm going to double the deminsions (lengthwise) and fold it in half. Should probably increase the width by about 20% too. I'm using a larger straw (3.5mm) so it should fit OK. I use an 801PT at work - will try later today.
How did it work for you? I am still trying to get mine to work right.

This is my first post. I have been vaping for only 3 weeks. I owe a lot to this forum in steering me along a better path to vapor. Thanks Pete, the BFD mod is brilliant. It is easy to make and works sooooo well. I made up 12 darts my first time out and am just now enjoying my 510. The vapor is great every hit, hit after hit. No leaks, no juice in mouth. Thanks again!

Excellent to hear! I'll tell you that at 6v it works so well I can't believe how fast I'm going through juice!

So after 2 or 3 refills I'm guessing the foam is getting gunked up some. Both my darts stopped wicking well today. Suppose it's time to clean the foam. Think I'm gonna sit down today and knock out 20 - 30 of these to keep on hand. Trying to get prepared for a couple weeks of travel.
Only downside to this mod so far is I'm going through an insane amount of juice.

I got lucky on the first try. Cut a strip 18mm wide by 36mm long and folded in half. Tapered the sides while folded and inserted half way into a 3.5mm straw about 20mm long. Getting about 30 drops total. Hasn't leaked except when I left the foam stick out to far. That's also happened with my 901 dart.

i finally found the right size straw at target and did 5 of them, but I'm getting juice in my mouth and flooding the atomizer. what am I doing wrong?
You need to make it wider. How wide are you cutting the foam? Does it look like the dart in the pictures in the first post? Are you using a 510 cart?

Thank you. My straw was too long. And my foam was too wide. I learned the hard way that the foam when folded is very squirmy.
I did notice that however that the cart is only 28mm deep (it could be that I just have some freak carts) so a 36mm of foam is a bit overkill but when trimmed it does leave a nice little tip to the dart.
It works beautifully!

yes 510 cart and I made it just like the pictures, I used a micrometer to measure everything.
Well then I guess I don't know what to tell you. I see you're in Florida. If you live or are ever in the Pinellas County area, PM me and I'll give you all the darts you'll ever need!

robl45, not all carts are created equally :D I had to change a few things to get it right on my dse901. I had to make the straw 1/4" instead of 1/2". I also made my plug more tapered as 5/8" didn't give me a tight enough plug. Mine is an inch or more at the top. Play around with it, it's worth the effort. I've completely drained my cart 3 times, woot!

OK. I've been using this mod for two weeks and I am finally a happy vaper. I've used just about every other mod for the 510 with mixed results at best. Finally there is a mod that keeps working and working. Easy to do, great vape and throat hit and drains cart completely each time. I sincerely thank Pete54 and all others that contributed to this variation.

Okay, you guys (and girls) have sold me, I'm going to give the foam dart mod a shot. A question though: How are you able to determine the measurements in millimeters? Do you own a steel ruler or some other device that allows you to measure in millimeters?

Anything with a metric scale will work. I use a many different devices. Here is some examples: A steel ruler works as long as you make sure that the scale starts at the end of the ruler or a veneer or dial caliper. Just remember that the metric system works on the base ten system. 1 centimeter is equal to 10 millimeters.

The measurements being exact is not necessary. Just be close. The length will be trimmed at the end anyway and the width can be adjusted after the fact. If it doesn't empty the cart just clean it and trim the sides a bit. If it leaks make another dart a bit wider. The beauty is that once it's made, it last a very long time. I'm still using darts that I made over a month ago.

I just learned something new about this mod. Make sure that your stirrer is not cut longer than 13mm because if it is when the atty hits the dart it will push the stirrer to one side. I had one dart that wasn't working well an I noticed that when I took the cart off the foam was pushed of kilter a bit. By keeping the stirrer at 12mm everything sits straight and works better.
