I have been primarily using AW P18650's for around home and AW IMR 18350's while out and about. I don't see the 18500 mentioned much by the family.

Any of you folks have an abiding reason why the 18500 appears to get so little play? At 15mm more than the 18350, it does give twice the mah. But again, for 15mm more you can have an all day battery.

Just thought I'd see what the general feeling was before I purchased some AW P18500's and their viability in my GGTS. I'm thinking that the lower profile it offers would make it a good choice as it would remain manageable size-wise for out and about.

Thanks for any feedback! :)

I use the AW IMR 18490s, they are 1100 mah and last me a whole day at work no problem. I remove the tube above the telescope and mount either my UFS or iatty collector tanks right to the telescopic tube. Perfect size for me, I find the 18350s make the GG a bit too small (I know right?!? Is there such a thing?!?).

I got all gung ho on 18650s because of battery life then once I understood the battery numbering scheme I decided to order an 18500 because it is roughly the same length as my 14500's and I like the size of the TS with those in there. Unfortunatly the bat I got is finicky so it doesn't work well but I think I will buy 18500's in the future.

Thanks for the feedback guys! :) I think I'll try a couple of the AW P18500 1500mah. I prefer the AW P18650 2600 over the 2900 as the power discharge scale is higher for longer on the 2600 vs. the 2900. Sort of a mini-high drain.

Seven months in and I still pull on a PV like my life depended on it while awake (and sometimes when I wake up during my sleep) so I take as many realistic mah hours I can get in a battery. I also like the fact that the AW's tend to be closer to advertised mah spec's than others. ;)

That's exactly why I use the AW IMR 18490 over the regular AW 18500, I prefer the power discharge scale on the IMR's. I always run LR atties, especially iatty which is usually in the 1.1-1.3 ohm range. I find the IMR lasts me longer (and is more satisfying) with the LRs.
