For folks having issues with the +/- New coils prompt....
Previously I mentioned about me needing to push the pin up if the atty I'm switching to has a 510 that's a good bit shorter than the old one. That still holds true for me. However, I found what some of you folks mentioning this may be doing and figured I'd pass it along.
So when the chip goes to sleep, when waking it up, it will compare the coil resistance last used, with what it resamples from the topper. It doesn't seem to resample the topper unless you remove and replace it or click +/- twice in power mode. However, the chip does resample on it's own after it goes to sleep and you wake it up as well. I found this since I have my 'sleep time' turned down to 2 mins.
So I was getting this annoying +/- prompt after the chip went to sleep and I hit fire. Every time. I turned sleep time up to verify that the wake up of the chip was when it occured.
I had switched toppers, when it prompted me for old/new coil, I hit old, so I wouldn't have to change my wattage. A silly as it sounds, I wasn't thinking about the resistance difference of the coils in the toppers. One coil was 0.31, and one was 0.4.
So after hitting old with the new topper, every time I went to vape after it fell asleep, the mod would prompt me again. After playing a bit, I realized it was because I had not hit 'new coil' the first time when changing the toppers. Once I did that, it was fine.
So after the fact, it seems obvious, and I feel stupid for what I did, but it's easy to just hit 'old coil' when switching toppers if you aren't careful or in a hurry. If you do this and have a higher sleep timeout set on the chip, it may seem like you are randomly getting this message. For example, if the chip timeout is set to 30 mins, it may be a while before you go 30 minutes without vaping to see the issue.
Anyways, as mentioned, it seems obvious, but I was in a hurry switching toppers today, and missed hitting 'new coil'. Or if you change toppers frequently and the resistance between the coils is close. Didn't take me too long to start having the issue. Apparently, since the chip resamples the coil at wake up and compares to the last know coil, it will cause you to be reprompted.
There may be other times the chip decides to resample as well, but I did find the wake up of the chip definitely does as well.
While I'm embarrassed to admit such a silly user error, I'm most likely not the only one who has done this and wondered WTH the mod was doing.
I would suggest when changing toppers, ALWAYS select new coil, even if the resistance in the coils is close.
