I get the appeal of big clouds for 18 to 20 year olds. When ever I've seen big cloud vids, thats the crowd (with perhaps some older people acting like 18 to 20 year olds) and it's a very small part of vaping but I get it. Yeah it's stupid and yeah it's nonsensical but that's often what that age range does. And some of those builds will eventually make their way across the vaping world. I'm not a cloud chaser but sometimes when I am sitting on the porch, it's just fun to watch the clouds float in the night sky. I think we all do. But let's not demonize cloudchasers for doing something relatively benign. They are pushing the envelope and either inventing something cool or thinning the herd. As for the government, no one outlawed cars because some felt the need to try and go 330 mph in 4.4 seconds

Yup, not to mention everyone really likes working with sex bolts :)

Wouldn't it be great if spell check knew what we had intended to say!

Haha! I've never trusted autocorrect. I always proofread before hitting send. I actually meant sex bolt. A sex bolt with a spring through an end cap is a perfect, albeit rudimentary switch.

Well, I learned something tonight, thank you rondasherrill :thumb:. I spent over 3 decades working in or around machine shops and never came across sex bolts before. Bookmarked for future reference ;)

To be fair I've always heard them referred to as barrel bolts, but once you find out that THAT is their actual name, how do you not start calling them that.

Why did people switch from cigalikes then to cartos and tanks and then to clearos. Look back at old vids on youtube of the protank. Chances are the reviewr will blow as large a cloud as he can with his new toy. So at some point we have all been cloud chasers. We as a comunity need to stop pointing our fingers and saying bad vaper to anyone who blows a bigger cloud us. What we need to do is concentrate on educating about doing it safely. I myself love the hit from my rda at usualy 2.5 ohms. I love playing with different builds, seeing how good I can get them to produce, either clouds or flavor or a happy medium. I don't know why but I like it. Most of my "cloud chaseing" is done when I am alone so it ain't for the glory. Back in the 70s I loved ....s so I guess I was a cloud chaser back then to.lol. ALMOST EVERYBODY when they mention the explosion at vape blast say it happened to a cloud chaser! From what I have read it was a spectator with his mod in his pocket. We don't Know what build he had, was it beyond his battery amp limit? That thing could have blown up anywear so why are cloud chasing competitions being blamed? Idiots like rag boy (thank you who ever first called him that) will always be around. Because I enjoy big puffy clouds many people lump me in with that idiot. To that I say up yours! If we spent as much time working on our lawmakes as we do jibber jabbig about this crap we would not have to worry about bans laws and what not. Dahmitt fogot to drip and got a huge cloud of cotton SMOKE so I gotta go re wick.

Don't feel bad Ryedan. I did a search on sex bolt and got caught in a pornado of pop ups.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding. I honestly hope that I am. Are you saying that those in their 30s or 40s who chase clouds are "acting like 18 to 20 year olds" and that it's "stupid" and "nonsensical" to chase clouds? Again, I might totally be misunderstanding you, but that's how your statement reads. If so, I have to say that it's very condescending. To judge others and insult them simply because they like to do something that you don't understand or care to do yourself is just negativity without any purpose. Further, it doesn't help the community in the least. Dividing people into groups and calling the "others" stupid only creates animosity. Why do that? Are they harming you in some way?

I wouldn't call myself a cloud chaser. I build fairly basic sub-ohm coils, but the RDAs I use aren't really meant for cloud chasing. Only one is drilled out for bigger holes, and that was by the person who sold it to me. My preferred RDA is meant for good flavor production, in fact. I certainly wouldn't insult people who chase clouds, though. They aren't hurting me, so should I speak about them as if their interpretation of our hobby is different? Their passionate about their hobby. Good for them.

One again, if I misunderstood you, I apologize, but your post reads like a rather negative statement about others.

But let's not demonize cloudchasers for doing something relatively benign.

Yes, let's not do that.

I'm with you. To each their own. I have to say that I'm shocked by most of the posts in this thread. I've been vaping, in form or another, for about four years, but I just joined this forum recently. I can't believe there's a group of people trying to divide the community into "us vs. them", where the "them" are "stupid" and "nonsensical" (and several other condescending words I've seen in this thread) because they don't conform to the standard that the "us" have set in their own minds. I just didn't expect this kind of negativity. Cloud chasers are passionate about their hobby. They enjoy it. They try new things and, frankly, help advance the technology available to all of us. I'm glad they exist, and I'm glad they've found something they like doing.

To say that Cloud Chasing hasn't paved the way for vaping innovation is short sighted...

Over the past 6 months we have witnessed the development of more regulated mods that cater to cloud chasers... Remember when VW was a 12 W capable funky looking box that looked more like a tire pressure gauge than a vaping device? Then it stepped up to 15W, then 20W, then 30W... Now we're seeing 50W, 100W, and I even saw a 150W device...

What is driving all this? Cloud Chasers, that's who... The Sub Ohm crowd...

For me, I like my ProVari's and Nautilus tanks... Simple... And I get a good vape...

But the industry knows cloud chasing has inherent dangers and is responding by creating regulated mods that make it MUCH safer to enjoy that aspect of vaping, and providing the amount of power it takes to drive these sub ohm coils in a safe and responsible way.

Much in the same way the auto industry uses racing technology to drive our experience in everyday driving (Seriously, almost every part of the modern automobile was designed at a race track by some gear head) these cloud chasers are making an impact, and in my opinion it's for the better. I'm sure at one point people looked at folks like Mario Andretti, AJ Foyt, Michael Schumacher, Richard Petty, they were probably all called crazy... You guys are insane for wanting to risk your lives doing that ......ed race car driving...It was folks like this who changed everything for cars, and it has trickled down to the cars we drive today.

Just because you think it's crazy doesn't mean the industry isn't paying attention... And anything these cloud chasers do that makes vaping safer and more enjoyable for the mainstream, the better off we'll all be. It's how WE as a community respond to these types of incidents that is going to decide our fate.

If we shun the activity and all say how horrible it is and those guys are a stain on our otherwise white coat, that does nobody any good. The vaping community needs to embrace the cloud chasers, educate them, and encourage responsible behavior. I think we do that already... The industry is responding by making mods catered to them.

We're all benefitting from accidents like this... It was unfortunate, but if we use it as a learning experience, then everybody wins

Sorry brah, I don't speak Canadian. :p

Oops, hope I didn't come across as an ... in my previous post. I was being funny, no offense intended, but it doesn't always read as the writer intended.

And if you are just being funny too doctadrea, then I don't speak Canadian either ... just because I live here does not mean I have any kind of grasp of the language ;)

Why are those statistics relevant?

What percentage of drivers are racing in formula 1?

What percentage of drivers are satisfied with the Ford Fiesta?

Different strokes for different folks... Just because the percentage of people who like something is small (likely less than 1%) doesn't mean that the majority should discredit their desire to continue what they enjoy.

I thought you were trying to be funny, and I was trying to be funny back at you... The internet is difficult. :D

Edit: maybe the sick clouds I'm blowing from my 1.25ohm coil are getting in the way.
