Then he said to not drive in his town because he would be looking for me... (he was a TX DPS officer)

Well, I was in an '87 Ford Escort GL Hatch. I dont think that wouldve worked for me!

Its like when I got a ticket in my 2 door '92 Geo Metro Convertible. 3 whole cylinders. 1.0L displacement. FIFTY FIVE HORSEPOWER!!!! no, thats not a typo. 55hp. I was doing 75 in a 45. The cop couldnt stop laughing when he got out of his car. He knocked it down to 54 in 45, and said if he kept it at 75, no judge would ever believe him anyways.

One of Mrs E's co-workers was joining the Marines. This was right about the time gas prices really started to climb. My daily driver was my '01 Ram. Maybe 15mpg. MAYBE. He said he was selling his Geo. It had a wing, fart can muffler, and a crappy $1500 paint job. I told him if he put a stock muffler back on it, I would pay him $500 for it. So, after a week, he sold it to me. I took the wing off and threw it away. Filled the holes in the trunk with orange RTV. Fixed the tear in the back window with a piece of duct tape. Threw away the plastic "chrome" spinner wheel covers he had on it. And eventually scraped all of the stickers off of it. I got sick of the factory stock radio with 4 3.5 inch speakers. With the top down, all you could hear was the treble. So I redneck engineered a pair of 6x9s to fit behind the seats. Eventually, I got stupidly funny and put a subwoofer in it. It was the UUUUGLIEST car on the road. But the 8 gallon tank filled up for about $20-$25, and got me about 350 miles per tank. And yes, it really was fun to drive. 5-speed manual transmission, short wheel base. I could take turns without letting off the gas that would send most RWD cars into a slide. And it would go 85mph. It would do 90mph going down hill if you farted. Not to mention, that you could squeeze into parking spots that werent big enough for the average compact car. It was just fun!

My son bought a Yugo for $50. The most fun he has ever had with a car. And the only car that he could put a new tranny in for under $75, by himself, before going to work. He still has not lived that car down.
