Ive actually been misbehaving today. Normally, I drink three 12oz sodas a day. One with each meal. Then I drink 4-5 20oz bottles of water through the day. Ive already drank 4 cans of DDP today.

Dont get too envious just yet. I dont help around the house very often. Im usually so worn down by the weekend, all I do is try to compress the foam of my spot on the couch a little more. If Im not doing that, Im working on the boat or some other meaningless project. And cooking. I love cooking. But even that has to change now that Mrs E's cholesterol numbers were so bad.

Not to mention, Im tired of my 9 year old daughter expecting everything to magically happen for her. Food magically appears on clean plates. Clothes magically are washed, folded and put away. I made her start doing clothes and dished. Granted, I did most of the work, but that will be changing soon.

I'm not quite sure what Sallie does on hair day. They do offer a complimentary glass of wine. One glass would put me over the edge and then I wouldn't be able to keep my head up straight and my hair cut would be crooked or she'd have a hard time coloring with my head bobbing around
Oh, well then youve got it down! Sallie never said her hair ever turned out good. Just that she enjoys the hair nights!

 I think it's strategic on my hair stylist's part. You can't complain if you can't actually SEE anything to complain about.

At 9, my kids already had "chores" I never touched the dishes, they loaded and unloaded. When they were younger than 9, their job was to unload the tupperware dishes/cups. They also had to sort their laundry into the proper bins, clean toilets, vacuum. I taught them young. However - the teenage boy has now has selective memory  he can't seem to remember how to do these jobs any longer or remember when I do tell him to do things.

I think I started doing chores at 6 or 7. I was cutting the whole yard by 9.

We started chores on a pay by completion scale. Each chore was anywhere from $.10 to $1 depending on how tedious/difficult/dirty it was. Like cleaning a bathroom weighed more than sweeping the kitchen. She had the chance to earn about $10 a week. She keeps asking for video games, movies, toys. And I keep telling her no. Then she gives me the puppy dog eyes and the occasional tears. So I have to remind her that she COULD be buying her own stuff if she worked for it. Suddenly, having the desired object isnt so important. We are raising a lazy kid and it drives me nuts, so Im trying to fix it.
