The idea of removing the social buttons has also been brought up. Most people (myself included) didnt start experiencing any lag until the facebook and twitter buttons were put up.

For me what makes it load really slow is when there are Skype links under people's avi's.

Not very far at all, but databases are databases. What you regurgitated is true and correct for any well architected database. I have no idea how or how well architected a vBulletin database is. I really have no idea what happens when you hit it with a query, like take me to the last post I viewed. I'm not sure I actually do notice any difference when I open this thread vs. a thread with only a couple of posts. I agree, my biggest slowdown was when the added the social buttons. Problem is, I can't disable them across all sites, because I do sometimes use my personal machines for testing work sites and we have social medial all over the place. Blech.

Sallie, I use AdBlock and have blocked the social links here, it's wonderful!

I am no authority on Tennessee, but I lived there for a while when I was younger. I don't remember alot of snow. I do remember a ton of ice. It was beautiful.
You pretty much nailed why I wanted to come home VV (mtns and 4 seasons). Florida doesn't have "fall", palm fronds falling on your car does not qualify
