You probably don't know that FV lives in Wisconsin and to get anywhere you have to travel at least 25 miles in any direction..

Wow!!! Our airport is probably 45-50 minutes away (except during rush hour) and I thought that was a long way to go just to get to an airport!!! Not envying that trip... I think I would seldom fly if I had to drive that far! :)

I know she lives in Wisconsin... and 25 miles is really close in Texas... I live 20 miles from my day job and 25 miles from my teaching job. ;) We call that living in the suburbs, but my wife from Cleveland calls it living in the sticks!!!

I was speaking in more of time... at 70 mph 25 miles goes pretty fast... at 3 plus hours that would be 200 plus miles away! :(

The funniest part is... it takes me 25-30 minutes to get to my job 25 miles away depending on traffic... it takes me 50 minutes to get to my day job in the morning due to rush hour. :(

Funny story when we moved out to the suburbs and bought a house...

I came home from work that day and came into the house and my wife (we were not married yet) is standing there tapping her foot waiting for me to get into the house... and as soon as I shut the door she says...

"Suburbs my A**... Did you know that I actually passed cows and horses on my way home today!?!?!? There are cows and horses living closer to town than we are!!!"

I looked at her (she was still tapping her foot) smiled and said... "That's because the city folks need a place to put their food and transportation!"

I live out in the sticks too.I'm 35 minutes north of Columbus Ohio.Lots of farmland and open fields and for some reason 6 golf courses. There's not enough people in Nevernear to play on them.I like living here. We have a Walmart so we're golden..

There are about 25,000 people in our city limits... but it nearly merges with a city of about 75,000 inside their city limits... which does intersect with Austin. We have almost any type of store you want in Cedar Park or Leander... but unfortunately our property size (yards) are true subdivision size as all of the older property is being sold off to developers and split up into subdivisions or stores or shopping centers. :(

Nobody would be able to afford to go buy large pieces of land that some people inherited where we live. As those are sold off they will never be recombined again. :(

What a bummer James :( Poor guy.
I feel sorry for him, but its a good choice for the company. He was the only one missing due dates, test dates, installation dates, etc. From a professional standpoint, he had to go. But on a personal level, yeah, its nothing I ever want to see anyone go through. Ive been there done that, and it sucks.

Yes! Let's! We can pool hop at VV's and crash at my mom's! (she will feed us too)
Even better!!! I follow the food!!!!

Glorious Morning to you all. I have fleas...
I was going to like that, thinking it may have been a random Stretchy comment, but then wondered.... do you really have fleas? So I didnt like it.

Im in about the same boat. I dont live in a suburb, but I do work 30 miles away from the house. 45 minute drive in average traffic. Only 15 minutes of it is interstate driving. Thank goodness for company vehicles and using gas paid for by the company.

Again, that sounds like my wife. She was born on Long Island, but mostly grew up in Charlotte. I was raised outside of Charlotte city limits, so being in the middle of "the sticks" is comforting to me. When we lived in Norfolk, VA, its all city. When I got out of the navy and we moved back to the Charlotte area, I said we werent living in Charlotte. Period. Crappy taxes, crappy school system... There was no way I would live there. When we were looking at the house we ended up buying, she couldnt believe we had to pass cattle and horse pastures to get to it. I love it out here. No cars, no yelling and screaming, plenty of property (though not as much as I wanted), and privacy from the neighbors.

She also hates its a 30 minute drive to get anywhere. Including the closest Walmart.

I dont know our population, but I do know it was a big deal when the town put up our second traffic light two years ago. And then a third last year. Must be a population boom or something.
