Yay for vacation Bamrz!! Got plans or doing more of a staycation? I'm looking forward to not feeling like I'm chained to the house. I don't mind being a caregiver because the ultimate goal is to get him better and that's all the the thanks I need, but I do need a day out of the house.

Evening posse! Woohoo for vacation bamrz!!! Going anywhere or is this going to be a staycation?
This one is definitely a staycation, with maybe some local riding depending on the weather. If I'm still employed in Sept/Oct, then I will do a road trip.

Chips, I can totally understand the need to get out of the house now and then! My ex fought for joint custody, but only actually had the boys for one weekend. They were 6 and 10 when we first separated, way too young to leave by themselves. And I didn't really know anyone to watch them. (I live in "Stepford", hardly any moms work here, so there is no day care). I loved them dearly, but back then would have been thrilled just to go grocery shopping by myself!

I do have fleas...
O.K. so we have 8 dogs right now.Anna picked hers up yesterday.
I took Fergus(my Ragdoll Cat) to the vet because he likes to be in the basement with me when I do my Etsy thing but lately he is somehow getting on the air ducts and sleeps up there while I work.He can get up but not down.I have to get a step ladder and save him.I must not have saved him one day and I think he fell from the air duct because he wouldn't let me pick him up.Usually he won't let me put him down. Being a concerned cat owner I took him to the vet.
Well he may have fallen but no broken bones but while I was there she said he is full of fleas...(Ragdolls are a really long haired cats) I thought she was joking because my cats NEVER go out.Never..I looked and he was swarmed with them.I was livid...I'm going home to let Mr. Crabbypants have it because the one thing I harp on is did you put the drops on the dogs this month. Every month I ask him because who wants 8 flea bitten dogs?
Picked up Fergus slammed the front door and lit into him over the flea infestation. He said he treated all the dogs and he hadn't missed any months..So he decides to bathe each and everyone in flea shampoo.I was helping him and there were no fleas on the 1st and 2nd dog. Then no fleas on the third and forth dogs.See a pattern here??8 dogs well 9 because we bathed Anna's too.Not one flea on any freaken dog. Both my cats were crawling with them.Gave them a flea bath put the drops on them. They are fine now.But of course I had to vacuum throw all their bedding into the washer scrub the floors. The whole stupid cleaning thing you have to do.
Still..The mystery is where did they come from? Apparently not from the dogs.So where? Will I ever know the answer to that? So now I have to treat the non outdoor cats with flea drops every month.

Have you looked into trying Comfortis for your kitties and pooches? The other 2 dogs in this house are flea-ridden and their owners choose to do nothing but bathe them on occasion. We give Comfortis to Peyton regularly and she has had no issues.

Everyone needs a day off from life every once in a while. Even caregivers. Find the time and take it.

We found Cocoa chewing and scratching a LOT not too long ago. We give her the drops religiously and couldnt figure out how she was getting them. The fleas apparently built up an immunity to the drops. After 12 years, we had to deal with fleas for the first time. We tried baths, scrubs, powders, combs, nothing worked. Then someone at Mrs E's work told her to cut a lemon up, boil it, let the water cool, and pour it into a spray bottle. We sprayed her down with it the lemon water and havent seen a single flea since. It made her a little sticky to the touch, but it worked like a champ. Weve switched her to a different brand of drops and they seem to be working for now. We just couldnt believe that we had kept her flea free for 12 years and then she got them out of no where.

Stretchy, I truly feel your pain! We had the same problem in Hawaii, a flea infested totally indoor cat, and no other animals to bring them in the house! I finally figured out they were coming from my pantlegs!!! The only time I ever wore jeans in HI was when I was mucking horses. There were stray cats all around the stables, so of course they would probably be loaded with fleas. I started wearing bike shorts under my jeans, and removing the jeans before I got in the car to come home. This solved the constant re-infestation!!!

At any rate, what I'm trying to say is that there could be a big flea problem in your area. Ask a few neighbors. They could be in your yard, and you (or Mr Crabbypants :)) could be carrying them inside accidentally.
