Yesterday there was a bit of excitement on my way to my appointment. The interstate buckled from the heat, all the way across both lanes. There were 7 vehicles with messed up tires/rims on the other side. And really cranky people on their phones calling tow trucks. Luckily the police were already there with lights on to slow traffic down or I would have been #8. The pavement had heaved up about a foot! By the time I was on my way back home they had already repaired it. Now I will remember to watch for it when it gets this hot.

Out greasing the bird feeder pole....

If the squirrels are jumping to the top of the feeder, just put some grease or oil on it. They hit it and slide right off. Keeps them off the feeders, and if you sit back to drink a beer or 12, it can provide endless hours of entertainment.

We have a deranged deer in the woods behind our house.He attacks at night.The first time he must have jumped our fence into the yard and couldn't jump out so he rammed the gate and tore it to Hades.The other night he must have wanted the finch food so he grabbed it with his teeth and pulled.He bent the pole in half...
The Newf sounds the alarm when he moseys into our area and it keeps him away but if it's hot and Rums don't want out the deer gets away with murder.

Victor slept through the attack of the racoons last night. Fine guard dog he is. Guess he didn't want to lose his spot on my pillow. We have deer in our yard too, and they are not afraid of Victor. Go figure.

I have a helper that comes in on Wednesdays and does my floors.(I have that weird malady which precludes me from bending over) She's top notch...We can't vacuum for another week because of the flea treatment. She's actually sweeping the carpet with a broom.Who says you can't find good help these days??..
