Just stopping by to say hello Posse. I'm sorry I haven't been around much lately. Dad has gotten really bad and is taking much more of my time now. :( I'm also vaping a lot more because of this. I refuse to go back to smoking. I hope everyone is well and James, I couldn't stop looking at the photo of your fridge with all the soda! Wish my fridge looked like that for one whole day...lol. :)

Road trip with Sallie!!
Evening posse. Home from wine hair night. I picked up a pizza before coming home, so I took the back roads home from there. I missed a pretty major turn, ended up almost right back where I started from as the road goes in a big loop if you miss the turn. At least the pizza was the right temp for eating by the time I finally got it home. :D

Cook that pig shoulder with green beans and potatoes. It makes the green beans taste wonderful and the shoulder will melt in your mouth.
Well my plans tonight didnt work... When my wife told me she purchased a Boston ...., I imagined that she... you know... purchased a Boston ..... It turns out, her "Boston ...." was really a "Picnic Shoulder Roast." Both cuts come from roughly the same part of the pig's shoulder. There are two big differences though. A picnic shoulder has one huge bone that runs through the entire length of it. I can work around that. And the second problem is the fact it is still covered with skin. This one is a bit more problematic. I can remove the skin without much problem. But doing so removes almost the entire fat cap. The fat is essential when smoking. As the heat renders the fat, it will self baste the meat. No fat means dry meat means not good barbeque...

Mrs E is at work right now and now has to purchase another hunk of pork. Hopefully, she gets the right cut this time. Now I get to look into how to cook a pig's shoulder...

That's a good looking .... if I may say so...
Ok, so after a bit of research, I do see that picnic shoulders can be used to make some really good barbeque. SO, Im venturing into the unknown and will actually use it instead of buying a $25 boston ..... Its been rubbed down with my dry rub and is now sitting in the fridge under foil. Ive got my wood chunks soaking. Now, all I have to do tomorrow is smoke the pork, make the STD burger patties, marinade the chicken, buy some booze, and go fireworks shopping. And somehow still manage to keep an eye on the pork to make sure it cooks right. What have I gotten myself into???

My beloved cat Molly (A.K.A The Puss) has now been missing for well over 24 hours. I'm beside myself, I love that little critter more than anything. She's not an outside cat, I don't let them outside. My elderly mother accidentally left the door open and The Puss made it outside. No sign of her since. Now I fear she's gone for good.

I had an inside cat get lost outside twice. The first time she was found down the street hanging around a garbage dumpster 5 days after she got out. The second time she was found under a neighbors porch two weeks after she got out. Don't lose hope, cats are pretty smart. They know what to be afraid of and what they should run and hide from. Put up flyers, that's how we got ours back. People saw her and called us both times.

Morning posse. Weather turned overcast again. :( I'm wondering if we're ever going to get a decent couple of days in a row this summer. We don't need the rain, we've had enough. We're going to have to start beating back the underbrush with machetes soon, it's starting to look as lush as a rain forest out there!

Hey Posse! I got mostly caught up..a few pages short but I have to get ready soon and wanted to have time to say, Hi, I miss you guys and I hope everyone is doing well.

Things are going very well for "I Know A Girl....." I guess I am just not used to working again and juggling life. This will get better right?

Thomas decided to help out at the Elk's ( a few bartenders had to be let go and they needed someone), so now he is working as a bartender over there Thur-Sat nights. This does not bode well.

The house painting is going sloooowly but it is going and I finally got to see what my red paint looks like. I absolutely love it. I will get a picture as soon as I can.

*hugs*

What a morning. Shoulder is on the grill, chicken has been seperated and is now soaking in Italian Dressing, about 3 dozen eggs have been boiled with another dozen boiling now, two birthday cakes are in the oven.... Now to get Charli to the vet to check on her incision. Then to the ABC store for some vodka to make an adult flavored slushie. And finally on to the fireworks store for some explosive fun. I really dont know how I thought I could take care of all this without taking a day off....

Pulled pork in the slow cooker...that's what I use the shoulders for... :)

Im doing it on the grill with copious amounts of smoke. Im still going to attempt pulled/chopped bbq with it. From what I was able to glean from several websites last night, it can become a pretty tastey 'q. But Im still worried it wont taste right. At least there will be enough to eat even without the bbq.

I have no patience, I do mine in the pressure cooker!
Ive never owned or even used one....

oops, night James!
An afterthought is better than not being thought of at all!

Im sorry to hear about your dad Okra. I know its rough. I was beside myself when my dad had a few strokes from an aneurism and then the brain surgery to correct it. Stay strong. Youve been off the nasties long enough to know all you need is your PV.

That's a good looking .... if I may say so...
I just wish it were a real ....! I left the skin on, but left it upside down to spare anyone with aversions to flesh. Like my wife. She loves eating barbeque, but cant stand seeing anything that reminds her that what shes about to eat was actually alive.

Dude, Im sorry to hear that. I know I was a wreck when my dog ran off for one day... Keep us posted...

Sorry for leaving you alone! I was actually still in bed at 7am!!! Of course, CJ was using the small of my back as a chair so he could watch tv. But I was still in bed!
