Oh no. That's horrid. Thank heavens you didn't lock your phone in it.
Locked myself out of my truck at the gas station. Waiting for a policeman friend to come unlock it for me. Hubby at work an hour away.:banghead:

I'm so glad I have a mac laptop. I have the main computer and son's laptop set to download updates when we want to, not when Window's wants to. If there are updates, I do them before I go to bed & then it shuts down for the night. On our last desktop I got the blue screen of death over and over - and it finally died. The motherboard went out.

I really enjoyed the few months I spent at Ft. Meade between D.C. and Baltimore... Baltimore was a fun city... with some GREAT food! :D

How do I change that? what thing in the control panel do I click on? I really appreciate you telling me this.
It sounds like you have the updates set to automatically download and install... and something you are typing (or when you hit enter) has it hit the restart when the window pops up saying you are done. It is a windows setting you can change from the control panel. ;)

OMG..Mr.??? was stationed at Ft. Meade. We lived on post and he was assigned to NSA.I thought we were rich because we had a townhouse. Every Sunday we would go to D.C. to the Smithsonian..It was free and we could buy a hotdog for 10 cents. We went for 4 years of Sundays and didn't see the whole Smithsonian..OMG...We're moving back...I just have to tell him. That should be easy.Right?

If I was upstairs I tell you how to change it in a second. Its so easy to do. You just turn your automatic updates off, but you have to remember to run them once in awhile :)

I loved it there... I was there in the 95/96 winter I think?... or was that the 94/95 winter?... When they had that big storm... and was there for a few months for training. Loved it... it was one of my favorite parts of the U.S. that I have seen... but you would have to make a ton of money to live there I am afraid. :(

Maryland is beautiful. You can go to the Mt.s,The shore,Chesapeake Bay all within driving distance. We actually got a cost of living addendum because it was so expensive to live there.

SP... you need to do it one of two ways. The first you should be able to access the windows updates through control panel, but I want you to try this method first so that you do not have to look for it. Please let me know if this works for you. It will also prevent the automatic restarts that you are experiencing.

Note: This is yet another reason why you should never purchase a "Home" version of any Windows operating system... they give you about 40% of the functionality, assume the user is an idiot (much like apple there), for nearly the same cost as professional.

1.Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl and then press ENTER.

2.Click the Automatic Updates tab, and then click to select one of the following options. Select one of the following options to prevent automatic installation and reboots... I recommend the first, but it is up to you. Please keep in mind that if you do not install the updates at some point, then you are leaving your computer open to exploits that are public knowledge. That is why I recommend the first option below. ;)
-----Download updates for me, but let me choose when to install them
-----Notify me but don't automatically download or install them

3.Click OK

Please let me know if this does not work for you! :D
