So I did something that I don't know was all to bright today. I went back and added up how much my wife and I have spent on vaping thus far. We started 4/12/10 and according to the math my wife and I have save about $750 in now buying our slow ticket to the underworld.
Here lies the catcher... just to vendors not including shipping PIF stuff and all other non specifically vaping but necessary items (i.e. juice bottles, juice storage cabnet lol, and other fun somewhat related non vendor goodies) we have spent so far just about $1800.00. Again according to the math that leaves us at a non smoking savings of -$1050.00.
Maybe its time to stop buying new toys and juices LOL! The problem is..... there are just too many tasty juices to try and even worse, I do believe I see a shiny new 1860 Precise in my future . In the end though all is well and I'm a happy vapor despite the cost. I must say I do feel a bit better having aired my in my opinion INSANE spending to the world. Anyone else care to chime in their credit card woes? Come on dont be shy!

side note... must change credit card number as the wifey now has it memorized and can type it into a vendors shopping cart so fast that the total spent doesn't even show up before she clicks confirm payment LOL !!!

Happy vaping ALL :vapor:

I have been tempted to buy tons of stuff, but have found the happy ground, and realized that what I haven't experienced yet will likely still be there tomorrow, but if I'm impatient, my wallet may not be. This is a cessation device first, so if it interferes with my entertainment, then maybe I need to back off. As long as I am placated and not nic fitting, I'm pretty happy.

I still want a bigger vapor machine, but I just went on vacation. Being on vacation and not being constantly antsy about being smoke free and worrying about what my extended family thought is reward enough for me (for now).

Like any new habit, especially one that involves neat little electronic gizmos, there is a tendency among some (who can afford it) to buy everything in sight. Sort of like a "collector-itis syndrome". In the end, if your health is better and you enjoy vaping as a substitute for smoking, then all is good.

Myself, I'm much more in it for the health factor than the savings, although the savings is certainly a big bonus. I stopped buying new models as soon as I landed on one that vaped well and made me happy. Not looking to start a new spending habit here. For my savings, see my sig, then subtract off about $350.00, that's what I've saved so far.

I spent a lot trying around to find the atty, the juices, and the mod for me.

Experimentation probably cost me around $1500 - seemed like I had to try everything. I spent probably around another $500 settling down, refining my tastes and my stash, and then changing out juice stock as I lowered my nic level. And probably another $300 or so just maintaining and managing. I'm pretty well where I want to be with supplies so it is just the occasional juice curiosity or favorites-restock that ails me now - which is much much cheaper than the cost of my initial must-try-everything-to-find-the-right-thing mentality.

Edit: I should add, I've probably recovered around $400-$500 reselling stuff that wasn't for me in the classifieds. ECF is awesome! I never could have found what works for me, or recovered some of my $$$ if not for this forum.

When I smoked, I spent about $100 a month on cigs at the price they were a year ago. I have invested about $200 in hardware (over the 4 ecigs I have owned including 2 mods), and would "stab in the dark" guess my liquid spending over the last year at $500. Now that is probably an exaggeration of my liquid spending so far, but I never really kept track so I aimed high on my estimate. Now I am in a comfortable rythem of $50 a month on 2 5pks of 510 cartos and 80 ml of juice. So estimated $500 savings thus far. I checked the cost of my cigs the other day with the new taxes and what not, and if I smoked now what I smoked then I would shell out roughly $150 a month. SO! Now I have a recurring savings of roughly $100 a month on top of the $500 I have saved to date. Healthy(er) and Happy! And that is worth FAR more than I could EVER spend on ecigs in my (now longer hopefully) lifetime!

Happy Vaping! :vapor:

I had to take my signature banner off because I felt like I was lying everytime I posted

I've spent close to $500 so far and have evened out after getting the right PV and supplies for me. I'm happy with my ego, 510 atty (minus bridge and wick), TV tastyfinger and a drip tip. I tried cartos but the taste isn't good to me. I tried LR attys and burned them out in a day. So other than my monthly supply of juice and spare parts here and there I'm in a good place.

Ya...I kinda went into this thinking "I can stop smoking and save money too!" . So far I have just stopped smoking lol. I havent gone crazy but I def am still in that settling in stage. However I will say this...I have never been so happy spending money on myself. I feel great and I honestly LOVE vaping.

Yes, I have spent a lot and I have tons of stuff stockpiled. What has helped somewhat is I sold a lot of stuff to co-workers, friends and on the classifieds here so I didn't lose but a little money to try out lots of different mods, ecigs and liquids. I also got lucky and won several contests which helped a lot.

Waiting for my Lady Vyper from winnings of a contest sponsored by DC2. Thanks, DC2!!!

I buy 30 ml juice and 2 attys every 2 weeks at $24.00, so $48.00 a month. Course I have 3 egos and 5 510's. So no new batterys yet.

Took 3 months before I broke even on the analog cost.

I would save alot more money if I could convince myself to order juice and attys in bulk from ie. eastmall, but I can't justify the $15 flat rate shipping.

Why not just consider it a hobby? I have a friend that regularly spends $500 - $1,000 a pop on radio-controlled airplanes (add to that parts and maintenance for them) and he uses them WAY less than I vape. I think the enjoyment level for each of us is about equal, that is, he seems to enjoy flying as much as I enjoy vaping.

Just a different point of view.

Yeah im with ya on this. Vaping has definitely become more of a hobby than something I do to not smoke. I've gotten way past the point of wanting to smoke.
