Well ladies and gents,

Being definitely not dehydrated and having brushed my teeth a while before trying this coconut oil thing here are my findings over my first 'oil pulling' experience.

10:10- Put teaspoon of coconut oil and swished
10:15- Spit
10:20- First vape- Felt a tad more flavour
10:25- Second vape- About the same as the first
10:30- Third vape- good flavour increase
10:35- Fourth vape- absolutely no flavour
10:40- Fifth vape- absolutely no flavour
10:45- Sixth vape- still nothing

So apparently I'm stuck with this Vapers tongue for a while yet. BUT I'm not a scientist I'm just bored out of my damned mind and have nothing to do so I figured documenting this little experiment would of been fun. For all I know it could take hours for it do it's cleansing job. I'll further update tomorrow after I take my first crack on the ol' vape and see! I hope to heck I taste it like I used too.... This bland vaping is getting to me - insert sad face here -

So at 10:10 I put a teaspoon of coconut oil in my mouth... Well that's a weird experience. But after it all melts and whatever it's ok. I swished it around for exactly 5 minutes (timed) and spit. I didn't bother rinsing my mouth or anything like that to leave the residual oil work a bit harder. I'm a slave driver I know. I waited 5 minutes (timed) and vaped. Now considering I've been dealing with this 'olfactory fatigue' for a week or so now so maybe it was just the WANT of flavour but I did feel like it helped a bit. A bit. Nothing more. I'll continue to take one hit every 5 minutes to get a accurate 'effective' time if there is one. I hope so... I really want to taste this blueberry.

You probably should have gone a bit longer. At least 10 minutes, recommended time is 15-20 minutes. Don't be afraid to try it again as coconut oil/oil pulling is excellent for oral health...anti bacterial, anti microbial, anti fungal......

I plan on making it a ritual! Every two days or so... After reading up on it why not just do it for the great health effects let alone the vape flavour increase.

Seriously, it gets rid of that white coating on the tongue! And brushing with soap, I don't have plaque sticking to my teeth! My teeth are turning whiter, and whiter. My teeth were terrible when I quit smoking. I had some black along the gumline on my bottom teeth, between my front teeth, and the back of my teeth were terrible! That has all faded.

Well I was all gung-ho for sticking coconut oil in my mouth but I had my mouth washed out with soap enough as a kid.. I don't think I could purposely commit this heinous act on myself. :p haha maybe I'll just stick to coconut oil and toothpaste... But ya never knows crazier things have happened.

I am up to using Dial now. It isn't half bad, once I got used to it. Once a day, I use a dab of toothpaste with the soap for the fluoride, but my teeth shine, my gums no longer swell, and I floss with that soap sitting in my mouth. I get compliments on my smile. My dentist is impressed.

Heehehhee...not laughing at you but love your descriptions and thanks for the info. I've been dealing with this since I started vaping and I swear the only thing that helps (at least for me) is time which no one wants to hear but true. And vaping unflavored for a bit so the taste buds get a break.

Also adding Biotene mouthwash or gel in the morning and evening brushing routine can help too, a little and maybe a tongue scrapper. I've been focus more on "nose" remedies and will report back if anything works. Just stuck my head in my big jar of coffee grounds, breathing in to see if that works. UGH! Frustrating for sure

I just tried the oil pull for S&Gs. Didn't have any coconut oil so I used olive oil. First, it wasn't as bad as I feared. Second, after about ten minutes, I could feel a tingling sensation along my gum line, so it seemed that something was happening. After 20 minutes, I spit out and rinsed with water. I suppose residual oil was still coating my tongue, so I could barely taste the Cinnamon Roll I was vaping. I switched to Merlot (at 10 am) and it went very well! I suppose true results would take continued use...

The thought of soap in my mouth brings me back to the days of when I was little and said a bad word. My mother put a bar of Fels-Naptha brown soap in my mouth. GAG!

Second time, I got a spoon of cayenne pepper for having a potty mouth.

I remember trying to wash my tongue with soap, to get the pepper taste out. LOL

After the pepper, there wasn't a third time rotf.

Six days off analogs and vaper's tongue hit me last night. Admittedly I've been hitting the vapes pretty hard this week, but yesterday being Saturday, I had close to 500 puffs and I think I just overdid it. By the end of the day, all my flavours tasted like hardly anything except for the faintest hint of whatever, so I read through here and did a bit of experimenting.

Here's what I tried:

- lots of water (four huge glasses) laced with lemon/lime juice
- tooth brushing/mouth wash (including brushing my tongue)
- neti pot with saline
- huffing coffee grounds
- multiple different ejuice flavours including stuff I either never tried before or previously hated
- couple of drops of extreme ice mint concentrate added to juice
- eating pickled hot chillis

Drinking water and brushing my teeth sort-of worked for a couple of minutes, but wore off very quickly. Adding the mint gives me the taste of mint, but that's about it. Eating the hot chillis seemed to give the most intense result, but again only for a few minutes. Nothing else really seemed to do much.

Basically, I think I just need to back off on vaping for a bit, and wait until the flavour comes back, which I hope it will eventually. Oh, and stay away from the analogs while I wait I guess.

Well, that's the trick, isn't it?

Sure is. I've got to keep reminding myself that no matter how bland these vapes are tasting at the moment, analogs aren't going to taste any better, and the vapes aren't going to make me stink, cough or, ya know, die.

Besides, I quite like eating chillis :)

Like many others, I have tried all the "cures" for vape tongue, but nothing helps and I've had it for months! I have good oral hygiene, drink plenty of water and switch up my flavors. I can only taste new flavors in brand new tanks for about 3-4 hits and then it goes dead. If someone else takes a hit off of my set up, they say it's just fine. If I take a hit off of someone elses, it is just fine, but I can't go around vapeing other peoples stuff all of the time. I'm just really tired of such muted taste. The only thing I haven't tried is not vaping at all for a day or two. It would be difficult but that's about the only thing I can think of to try now. Wish me luck. If it works, I'll let you know. :(

Pretty dang sure that I have vaper's tongue and not vaper's nose. Been vaping pretty hard for three months and so far have only had a very few, very mild possible vaper's tongue episodesuntil I ate a really really large amount of eye-watering wasabi peas last night while chain vaping and reading ECF. I hydrate reasonably well (haven't really had VT yet) and always brush my tongue. Unfortunately, I think that I've truly "burnt" my buds with all that wasabi!! As Murphy's Law would have it, I've been on a vape gear and juice ordering tear and now my 9....yes, nine, vape mails are showing up in 2's and 3's at a time!!! Aiiiiyyyeeee!! Man, what effin' in item to not be able to taste anything!!! :(
