I was born with no sense of smell. The medical term for it is congenital anosmia...the laymans term is I can't smell ........no foods, no perfumes, nothing.
I'm thinking that is why I can't do subtle flavors. The only ones I enjoy are cinnamon based. I would LOVE to b able to do some of the ones I see written about here but it's hopeless. I have prob driven many B&M store people crazy trying all their flavors cuz the flavor names look soooooo good.
I do "feel" the aroma of the cinnamon based ones when I exhale thru my nose. Probably the first time my nose has experienced any aroma and it is really satisfying
I ordered some different flavors on line from the places that let you add extra shots of flavor and I am awaiting them to be delivered.
Last time I ordered some I ordered a very high PG amount in hopes of getting better flavors but I think them high PG made me sick....got nauseated, weak, horrible feeling. So what I've ordered now is either all VG or 50-50. We'll see one these go. Ordered small samples to see how they go. I'll spend 2 or 3 bucks per sample til I find something that works for me!!

not even 3 weeks into vaping regularly & i believe i've got this "vaper's tongue"... can hardly taste my vape (or really anything else) at all & my oral/nasal/sinus area has been feeling kinda numb for about the past 24hrs. problem is, i already vape a strong menthol juice so trying a menthol flavor probably isn't going to do much. perhaps the different flavors in the mail will help once they arrive so i can switch it up a bit, but in the meantime i'll drink more water & try some of the other suggestions.

thanks for the helpful & informative post! :toast:

"Dud buds" is now my favorite euphemism for this condition. I LOL'd.

I'm so stealing this! This is what I'm going through right now! Except the weird thing is it seems as if some of the tastes buds on a the left side of my tongue are stuck in "tart" mode! What's even weirder is, I DON'T vape "tart" juices.....?! I usually vape sweet bakery vapes, but I did have some good Halo and Johnson Creek tobacco's steeping for a couple of months now. Fortunately I'm vaping Tribeca right now and I can't taste ANY of the gross spicey flavor I didn't care for when I first tried it out before steeping. I'm not sure if it's due to the "dud buds" or steeping. It is a bit muted still, but I can taste the vanilla mainly with a touch of caramel. Not bad now at all, so who knows, maybe a blessing in disguise as I was coming SO CLOSE to just smoking an analogue!

Although I've been vaping for about 2 months now, I've only been off smokes for about a week and a half. I REALLY DON'T want to go back to smoking! I've been brushing my teeth/tongue like crazy as that usually does the trick when my regular juices start to lose some of their former pizazz.

On a side not, the idea of people ACTUALLY NOT brushing their tongue when they brush their teeth REALLY just blows my mind! Why WOULDN'T you clean your WHOLE mouth? SMH!
Once when I was brushing my teeth in my sisters bathroom and she saw me brushing the roof of my mouth she was looking at my like WTH, and asked , "What are you doing??" Once I finished up I replied, "What do you mean?" She went on to exclaim that brushing the top of my mouth was pointless and basically stupid! On my side I was shocked, thinking that's the way EVERYONE does! Of course she often went around with an "off white coated tongue" ,(BLECH!), from drinking a lot of coffee and smoking, which of course causes the nicotine to stick to the cream etc. On a RARE occasion that would happen to me, or my mouth would feel coated from drinking too much soda and I would have to brush like CRAZY! I have been told I'm OCD and a "clean freak" in ALL regards by certain people or another, but I really just thought that was "the norm", and standard.....anyways, sorry for the long detour off on "yuck mouth" and whatnot!

I recently signed up for Zamplebox, Craft Vapery AND The Drip Club, as I am tired of spending hours searching for "THE ONE", although I have for the most part enjoyed all of the juices I have so far. I'm hoping this clears up before I start getting the new juices in! Best of luck with everyone, and DON'T SMOKE! You'd be back at square one eventually!

Late to the party here but I've dealt with this damn fur ball tongue thing since my third week into vaping. My first vapors tongue lasted 9 days of zero taste, the second was about 4 days. Flash forward to over 8 months of vaping and I get dead tongue every week...not completely no taste but muted flavor.

I have used every remedy under the sun...those mentioned in the article plus light tongue scrapping, jalapeño peppers, tic tacs, gum and now focusing on my nose with Saline Aloe Spray, switch up to 10 juices a day in a vast array of totally different flavor profiles and I have to say, none of it really works.

For complete zero taste vapors tongue...only time works. For what I got going on now, I have no clue what to do and just have lived with it. I do vape a lot of Halo Fusion (unflavored) with drops of Halos Prime in it and it helps bring my taste buds back around. Unflavored actually tastes good, crisp and gives my taste buds a nice break.

ETA- just curious if anyone who experiences this issue have a "sensitive tongue". I know that sounds weird but my tongue is super sensitive to hot/cold drinks. Just wondered if there could be a correlation.

I have allergies in my "old age" and find when my sinuses act up I loose flavor. Once they clear my taste returns. Makes sense to me. I also add a little salt to my water because I tend to have low blood sodium with all I drink and my Dr recommended adding a little salt for electrolytes. Not enough to taste, just a pinch. Since doing this my sodium level has been good

Strange. This is exactly what I've been experiencing to a T. My buddy grabbed my tank and put in like 3 of the strongest juices. I took a hit and still nothing. Been like this for a week or so now.. Glad I read this because I didn't know what was going on!

I do drink a lot of water and brush my teeth regularly so that's not helping me (yet)... So coffee grinds are on the list! I hope it helps.. Great post! Thanks!

Crazy I've had this for ever and keep forgetting about smelling coffee grounds. So thank you for reminding me!

I would predict a large increase in reports of vaper's tongue in the near future. It's because allergy season is getting into full swing!! I know I'm stuffing up and my eyes are watering, and it seems to be a very intense allergy season....:(

My sense of taste suffers not only with vaping but also eating and drinking. Bring on the strong menthol juice for vaping, and habanaro or ghost peppers sauce for my food....

Thank you for this info!

Lately, a few flavors from different vendors are giving me a soap or pepper taste. Is it me or the juice?

Not sure about a soap taste, never got that before but pepper...yes. Not sure what mg nic you use but if it's 12 or higher, the peppery taste is usually from nic. Shaking the bottle and letting it steep longer usually will fade away the peppery taste.

Also I find for some reason for me, custard type flavors do this more and takes even a little longer to steep it out.

Thank you for your help! The pepper was a cupcake at 6nic. The soap was from a butterscotch. These had been steeping so I put them both back. I'll try again in a few weeks to see if it helps.
TKS again:)

I get straight soap when vaper's tongue hits me. I've had this issue for the last 2 days and it's making me totally crazy! I keep on hand AT LEAST 10 different flavors, and they all taste like soap! Mint soap, chocolate soap, fruity soap. Soap soap soap. It's like chowing down on a big ole bar of ivory! I hate it when this happens.

Anyone tried Coconut Oil for vapors tongue? I've not had vapors tongue "YET" (knock on wood), but I have friends that SWEAR that coconut oil definitely helps with vapors tongue. My thoughts are that MAYBE because I oil pull with coconut oil quite often anyway, perhaps that's why I've never gotten it.

"I oil pull with coconut oil quite often anyway" how do you do that? what does it do? I have coconut oil and vaper tongue, just got vape mail and need a cure
