---

I came across The GRIP on accident. And beside the accident than landed me on Earth, I haven't had a better accident than The GRIP. Pre-order support from SweepVapes owner Brad Gruss was excellent. He answered all questions, was forward, was never condescending, and is clearly well informed in his art. My baseline requirement was I wanted something that was, in function, identical to my ProVape-1. I was replacing that with The Precise from Super T and I wanted something that was every bit The Precise's peer in form and function.

Before you look at what I ordered I encourage you to visit The GRIP gallery at The GRIP gallery. The GRIP can be absolutely stunning in infinite combinations and through email or his ECF threads you can explore the endless options. However, I chose something rather plain appearing for myself in the form of Lignum-Vitae. I should note, very emphatically, that genuine L-V is hard to get if you even find somebody who knows the difference. Brad got it and handled it beautifully.

I was able to submit my order via email and Brad arranged for a deposit and work began. I followed progress on my GRIP through the ECF thread and before I knew it I had a nicely packaged GRIP w/ sample juice, some business cards, and a new battery in my hand.

Over the course of two weeks I used exclusively The GRIP. The feel, the build quality, the weight, the contours, the tactile response, etc. were all such that I enjoyed vaping more than I had with any other mod I've tried. I used numerous cartomizers, a Storm Tank, a VapeMate and atty setup, both at 3.7v and 6v. Fired every time, stood upright with anything on it, and was just a great pleasure to use.

The Drippin' GRIP is the baseline model and had I known what I do now, I would've upgraded. I didn't realize how exquisite an experience this was going to be. I didn't realize that a wood mod could be made THAT MUCH better than its peers. It comes in feeders and Vv and a mini that looks awfully cute.

Ladies! I'd like to note this is not really as big as it may seem. It's configured such that you can GRIP it numerous ways. It's very usable whether you have big mitts like mine or nice smallish feminine hands.

On top of all of that, Brad is a gentlemen supreme, and he has worked with me and a peer of his to allow me to use the rest of the original L-V stock on another mod from another vendor. This is going to let me have two mods from the same stock of wood that I'm so thoroughly enamored with. I can't get other major wood mod builders on ECF to consider woods they don't already offer much less get them to coordinate on it! (If you haven't figured it out, the other builder is ePipeMods which is definitely worth checking out.)

Are there things I'd like to see improved? Not really but I would always take pure SS parts over anything plated. The switch and catch-cup were solid for me. I opted for the dome switch but Brad does offer a flat switch. And he is also looking into a user-serviceable all-mechanical switch as well. I've had to use a polish cloth a few times on the switch as it does seem to take on a bit of fingerprinting tarnish but that's all.

And given all the areas something like this can have flaws it's really something to think that only a pre-manufactured part gave me pause. The wood work is phenomenal, the finish is luxurious, .. it's just something else entirely to look at a GRIP and to grip a GRIP.

As always I'm open to questions, insults, limericks, etc. -Magnus

EDIT: You'd think "Drippin'" would be easy enough to get right in THE TITLE!!! Magnus or Mangus or whatever the heck my name is.

Nice write up. I have a mini and a standard feeder coming soon. For some reason, theres just something very nice about vaping on a wooden mod. Wood is warm to the touch and a fine piece of burl or wood makes the experience so much better. I'm now picking out feedcups so it shouldn't be long now. My carry vape is a prodigy V3 and it hits nice and is a practical well made thing and all that, but once I tried a wood mod, everything changed. I have a couple that are gorgeous but flimsey in design due to the thinness of the wood. What i like about Brads stuff is it looks beautiful but also seems very robust. Wood dries out and shrinks with time, yet his design looks like it will not be affected by shrinkage. I know he's trying a new wood sealer that's very good stuff. That will effectively seal the wood to the elements whilst enhancing it's beauty and keeping it stable for a long time.

Cheers
