Wow!!! I sacrifice 90 bones for you guys and the big story is the condition of my toilet!!!!????? LOL!!!!

Sadly the unit is dead. The inconsistent ohms readings were due to the fact one of the wires had some of it's insulation stripped. I went in and put some electrical tape around it, but I messed something up trying to reassemble.

Bottom line, ignore the water resistance claims, there are openings in the device all over the place that allows liquid to enter. Quite frankly if I put electric tape over the bottom of an MVP, I'd say the MVP is equally as splash resistant.

However, it is very rugged. no concerns there.

I won't be getting another one. The unit just made me appreciate my MVP's even more.

Frankly, I'm puzzled at the fact that you used your toilet for this to begin with. Personally, I would have chosen a sink, a bucket, or even the dog's water bowl before the toilet, and that's despite the fact that my wife keeps our toilets immaculately clean. One might speculate why you elected to use your toilet, but I think I'll refrain from doing that. :D

Because I have dropped devices in the toilet and I wanted to use a real world experience that I have actually had. I have not had an issue with a sink, a bucket, or the water bowl.....

Thinking back on it, probably not the best idea, but it did generate attention.....And it established the fact that I have been a single dad for quite some time and my kids did a crappy job last time I asked them to clean the bathroom....LOL

But this was so much funnier than a bucket or the sink!!! :D

I personally thing you got a dud my friend. This can happen. After all, you saw it go trough a car wash. I have mine and I will be doing a full review on it Very soon, but so far i have smashed it into concrete, gotten it wet several times, kicked it around, spilled stuff on it, dropped it in wet snow, and all around abused the heck out of it, lol Was the bat door screwed all the way down?

Edit: Also, forgot to mention. Charging bats to 4.1 is a safety feature, plus, its proven that if you charge to 4.1 instead of 4.2 your battery goes further

If this is the case why is it most batteries charge to 4.2? Sounds like someone is trying to sound self important

Maybe I did get a dud, but that does not explain the lack of any type of sealant around the LED, the lack of sealant around the 510 connector. (place your mouth around it and inhale. You shouldn't get airflow from it. Also the complete lack of sealant around the battery compartment.

And yes it was fully screwed down.

The demonstrations I saw on video specifically put the battery door "down" (either on the table or against the glass) which really helps to prevent water from entering the compartment. However I maintain if you spilled water while the compartment was facing up, then you might have an issue.

I'm still wondering how the one that was dunked in the fish bowl fared.

Quite frankly I gave it an overall endorsement until I did the spill test and found that even some spilled water could get into the battery compartment.

I understand that charging to 4.1 does lengthen the "life of the battery". However this also means that I'm pretty sure that I was going to get less than a day out of a charge.

Overall It's not a "bad" unit. And I still recommend it. Will it replace my MVP's? No. But it is fine for a niche market for which it is designed.

Around my LED i have some clear sealant, looks like silicone or CA glue
Also, you said your 510 has air coming trough? mine is sealed tight, However, the Removable ring around the 510 (( similar to vamo and others)) has air holes in it, try taking ring off and see if you still get air.
Im just curious as mine is a water tight tank o.0

Well, as you yourself said, videos or it didn't happen. Repeat what Popus did. Spill a glass of water on it door side up and take a video. I'm not doubting you but having followed many threads by Popus, I don't think he is fabricating a story. Repeat his test and document it. Then we can say definitively that he just had a bad apple. Or not.

I took off the beauty ring and inhaled. And got airflow. This airflow was coming from inside the device.

The thin plastic lens around the voltage/wattage display is just held on with some contact cement. There was visible and audible give when I pressed the lens. Also, there was no sealant around the flashlight on mine.

And most importantly when it hit the toilet, there were immediate air bubbles coming from the device, from the flashlight.

Again, I stress it was NOT designed to be dunked, and I would have forgiven that, but the spill on top of the battery compartment, I was disappointed there were visible drops of water on the battery and in the compartment. Water and batteries don't mix.

have you no shame, man?

you're going to ask the guy to try to suck air from inside of that device after it's been in the toilette?

I'm surprised no one has brought it up yet, but wouldn't having a "water-proof" APV also create a pipe bomb scenario if the battery vented? I guess you could water-proof everything but the battery compartment, but that's kind of a half-assed way to go about waterproofing something.

Good review p.opus.

Personally I was hoping that they had come up with some kind of one way or blow away vent.
