I let tony at cropduster we're not a fan of the new 'tight draw' dccs, he let me know his stock is all from the older batch so far
whoa there! Before we go galloping off the the suppliers we need to have the proper info. The original echos on the market had a very airy draw. Version 2 addressed this and these are the ones I originally purchased. They were perfect. very easy draw and filled your lungs with no primer puff in about 3 seconds. That was when you first saw me, singing "the hills are alive!"
These new ones suck for a different reason. Mainly they are pumping out echomizers that anyone should see should have gone in the trash rather than make it out the door. Here's a crappy pic of the new DCC I got.
That glob on the right, is a hundred times more solder than should ever be used and is sitting right on the lower wick, partially blocking the hole. The wick has been pulled back in place. Originally it was inside the tube and the solder was further in the hole.
The wire that sticks out on the left and attaches to the gigantic glob of solder, is the resistance wire. That's right! There is a tiny tail that glows red inside on the wick, the rest sticks out the tube. I dropped it fiddling with my camera and disconnected it but yes, the wire ran up the outside of the tube, burning the inner filler as it did. Echo manufacturers, hang your head in shame.
None of this is our suppliers fault. But if we are going to ask them to address these issues to the manufacturer, we need to have them fix the right thing. I don't want my next batch of echos having too airy of a draw. That was corrected already.
