Chartz:"well, that's the point. The echo-e (for the ego/510 thread) isn't as nice as the regular echo on my new 808 threaded echo battery. Unfortunately the echo-e won't fit for some reason on my 808 to 510 adapter so I can't tell if it's the battery or the cart."

It's a shame your adapter doesn't fit as that would let you make a direct comparison on the same battery. Some batteries come with a preset voltage limit as low as 3.2v and most have a range from 4.2v fully charged to a 3.2v discharged. If you are vaping your Echo E at a lower voltage that would make a significant difference. To know for sure what you have you will have to test your batteries with a volt meter.

I find this Volt Indicator from Mad Vapes to be invaluable. It can be screwed on to the battery to check voltage and a atty/carto screwed into the other end to check voltage under load.

Will someone be kind enough to instruct me on how to reply with the quote inside the enclosed light blue box as everyone is doing, except me. :)

Have tried the "Reply With Quote" but it doesn't get the desired effect.

Errol

I use reply with quote. Just make sure you type your message at the very bottom.

Errol, I've had my eye on one of those for awhile. Right now, I guess all I can do is compare when I order more. This battery is awesome but I'm not ready to completely ignore my ego being as it's only a month old. I'll report more when I order more.

I also cut the end off a whistle tip and it worked a little better.

I jammed an extra long carto condom (the longest one I had) over the end of the cartomizer, trimmed it and cleaned it up with am exacto. It makes for a very nice "tailpiping" experience when the condensation becomes too much. It's plenty long enough to grip it with my lips and teeth. In fact it's so comfortable, I've been thinking of how to get one to fit over my Ruyan Vegas without ripping the paper.

In fact on attys and regular cartomizers I use 510 carts that I cut the filler chamber down on as a tip, they give a nice cool vape, and wish I could find some cheapie carts that fit the Echo-E. I find the direct tailpiping hit too warm, unhealthy-like, and I can taste the flavor better when the vapor is cooler. Is there a supply of whistle tips anywhere? And what old fashioned cartridges will fit the Echo-E?

yes... something nice and short and made of hard plastic like the old cartridges. I found a way on the emccs by jamming one into the cut down rubber tip but these carts have a size that's in between. We all seem to be finding a way and necessity is always the mother of invention. We'll just have to keep playing and posting. Also, the tailpipping isn't as hot on the single coil.

BTW. I haven't heard a definitive answer on whether the dual coils can be take apart and cleaned as well as the singles. With the echo-e the second coil is high up the tube so I don't think I will try. On the regular echos it's hard to determine exactly where the second coil is, so......?

Lulu, look down the barrel with a light. You should be able to see the upper coil on the DCs, and just a dark pit on the SCs.

I think a little condensation is a good thing. Maybe you missed my post a couple of pages back. The hard plastic DSE 801 whistle tips off the 801 cartridge work real good on them. You can buy five for 2.95 with free shipping here. Empty Cartridges

I also just want to tell those who are still on the fence, I got my echo from a supplier who isn't one of the three repeatedly recommended on this site. The ONLY reason I did is because they had the kit in 1100mah. I gotta say, the fear of the 1300 was only in my head. Something about this battery just seams slimmer and more user friendly, even though it's all in my head. The 1100 does last me all day and seems perfect to me. I'll probably be getting the 1300 next spring before I go camping for 4-5 days. That will be the true test. By then I bet all the batteries will be protected and I'll be able to order just the stealth outside of the kit.

Also, for those currently using a cig-sized battery, the brightness of the led was a bit exaggerated-at least on my blue one. I think it is mainly a shocker for those using a battery sans led tip now.

I thought I posted this but apparently not..................question.............I am getting a lot more flavor and vapor from 808 cartos on either a 650 or 1300 Echo batt than I get with either a dual coil echomizer or a single coil echomizer. The echomizers are filled correctly and the batteries are fully charged. Why would that be happening?

Start by saying the Echo DC is one of the best cartos I've ever used, both for vapor and flavor and most on this board are equally satisfied with them on a 3.7v battery. That said I've not been satisfied in the least with them on a 3.7v battery. I run mine at 4.4 to 5v on a VV Mod to get the vapor and flavor I'm happy with. The two single coil Echo E cartos I tried back in June at $6 each were disappointing at any voltage. :)

I've only tried one 808 carto but it didn't begin to compare with the Echo. I can only speculate, but based on my experience you either have an exceptional 808, bad Echos or you need more voltage for your Echo cartos.

FWIW I've been using the inexpensive VV Box Mod from Mad Vapes trouble free since July, it has turned out to be my best vaping investment to date. I can recommend it without reservation.

I have a relatively heavy investment in Echos and echomizers so my question still stands. I was using Volt cartos from Smokeless Image and they are very good cartos. Also I have no desire to carry around a plastic or wooden box with a cartomizer sticking out of it nor do I want a pv that I have to dial up a voltage number with. That being said I really appreciate your input. Thanks again. :)

It's only a matter of time until every auto batt is sealed. It still baffles me. Air flow must come from somewhere to activate an auto battery. If you look at Smokeless Image's site it calls them "drip resistant", not sealed. Perhaps the rubber gasket isn't a complete o but more of a "c" meaning they push liquid off to the side so minor drips get caught between the lip and post. I had what I thought was a echo cart getting clogged. A quick wipe around the battery post with a pin and some ever so lightly moistened cotton and it fixed it. Cart was blowing like a champ. The only reason I even figured to do that was because when I switched out the battery, the cart suddenly started working better again. So....long story short....I'm really sort of mezmerized and baffled by the concept of a "sealed" auto battery. Must know more!

Well, I had to go and burst my bubble. There is a downside to these "sealed" 808s.....they no longer work with 901 attys. Suppliers, please keep a supply of unsealed on hand cause I love my 901 atty. NOTHING puts out better vapor and flavor than my Smok Tech 2ohm 901. *sigh*

The 901 is my favorite atty also. The regular 2.8ohm units I use last for months and at $13 for a 5 pack they are the most cost effective units available. I also use the LR Bridgless 901 atties that are phenomenal on a 3.7v battery. They don't last as long as the regular 901s but much longer than any other LR atty I've used and a bargain at $15 for a 5 pack.

I'm going to try to find some sort of 808/901 adaptor that replaces the airflow through the threads and see if it works, mainly for curiosity. I mainly use my 901 on the 808 basic starter kit sold at madvapes. It's just a 280mah with a charger (and a nasty cartomizer that serves no purpose) for $10 but that little automatic battery HAS NO CUTOFF. I have tried to find it on my best days and just couldn't.

Still, no one has answered my question on taking apart and cleaning these dual coils. I'm at nearly a week with my first one and it finally is starting to show some wear.

I doubt the DC Echo, or any DC for that matter, can be taken apart without damaging the upper coil. My cleaning methods is flushing hot water through it with a adapter connected to a syringe and letting it dry. This method has worked quite well for me. Don't Dry Burn it.
