Thanks for the tips Charlz. Will look into the flushing gizmo.

If you want it tomorrow, look for this in the baby care section near the pharmacy at wal mart. I've seen them at other pharmacy store too. I've posted it several times but I'll reexplain if you get it. You need a carto condom to make it work.
oralsyringe.jpgdon't worry about the brand, just look for the syringe with adapter thing.

Hey Charlz, I'd like to hear about your method. If it really works I am interested. I've tried boiling, alcohol baths, even bought an ultrasonic cleaner. Nothing worked very well. In the end I wasted time, energy, money, and juice on old cartos that never worked well again. I honestly think buying new cartos makes more economic sense. Just my experience.

There is a bit of "why bother" to it. It seems like they never really come back and when they do....it takes awhile. Definitely not "wash and wear" if you know what I mean. I also have echos that I thought were dead after washing and I couldn't get a good reading on the meter, just somehow perform well. I now leave them alone for a week and fill them all back up because if worse comes to it, I can always pull the filler out, pop it into a syringe and squeeze the juice back out. Bill gave me that one.

The method I use is on Rob's site: Cartomizer/Atomizer Cleaning Kit - With 10ml Control Syringe, Luer-lock compatible w/cleaning tubes and instructions

The thing about it, is you can't be aggressive when dry burning these coils. The wick in the coils just don't like it. So they will last forever it seems....but I haven't found a good way to degunk the coil.

I tried rinsing in cider vineger and it worked well on the gunk but the taste continues to linger in a couple of my cartos.

Next I'm going to get a coctail straw in the tube and try dripping vinegar right on the coil out of a syringe. I figure it will keep most of it from getting into the filler. This method will be even better when I master restuffing echomizers. I won't be able to give that a go until Sunday.

So having some issues with my cartos. It seems like after a little while of vaping (30 min to 2 hours) they go dry and start tasting burnt. They are in no way empty and this is thin 80/20 light and clear juice that i havent had issues with before. 2 of them are new (2 days of use and one 2 hours of use). Filled with 3 mL by syringe and then drip drop in the top until drip drip out of the bottom. And topped off by dripping into top. (I don't seem to be able to get 3.4 mL in on the first fill like others--tips here? as it could be part of the issue)

I am wondering if this could be a coil off center issue, but don't know what to look for in that case.

Yeah, I got a couple like that too. I haven't found a fix. Tapped them....packed them...fluffed them.... They just seem to wick slow. Yet they don't burn unless I really push it. I just rotate them every 30 mins. until I figure this one out. They are all newer ones. Maybe they had a trainee packing these at the factory and we both got the same batch. lol!

Come to think of it, these are the fresh batch that had the coil off to the side. But you would definitely know. It would taste like dirty sock....the only way I can explain that taste.

hmmm...hmm thats all i can say. I feel like there is a "secret life of cartos" that hasn't breached my brain blood barrier yet. Ive taken one echo dcc apart and a few 510s and blus, and i just seem to not entirely get them. Gonna do some more research this weekend.

The waiting seems to help. Is there a physical way i can assess a off to the side coil? Would i just not see it when i look down the center-ish tube?

I'm going to have lots of carto fun this weekend attempting to further my understanding, and possibly work out the straw rebuild. Actually i start my spring break from classes this weekend, so i have a full week! Might have my engineer buddy come over and help with the rebuild.

I know im over-complicating things a little, especially since its a consumable, but i like to master things that i like. If i had the capital I would totally become a supplier. But also would feel bad competing with the same people that helped get me started, interesting paradox there.

PS dig the new avatar...now im going to have to update mine soon since everyone else is lol

Off center tubes seem to be the norm now. I received 5 new echomizers recently and was going to use one of them yesterday. I looked down the cart on all 5 and every one of them was off center in a really bad way. That has been the case also on some regular 808s I've had for a while. When used they start to burn the glue off the bottom of the carto and I just toss them. I hesitate to say where they came from but I will just buy from another vendor.

I really hope these carto issues don't get worse. As the echomizer falls so falls the echo.

hmm.. i just took an inventory of 17 cartos from two diff suppliers. every single one of them has the center tube far off to one side about 1cm from the metal wall of the carto. All but one that is, which is perfectly centered. So far the 9 cartos i have tried (all with center tube that far over have worked mostly okay.

But now i am really excited to try the one that is perfectly excited.

I keep thinking my cartos are not working right, but then it seems they are. So as of now i am considering most of my issues to be due to the fact that I am vaping too much and not giving them enough time to keep wicking. For instance, i just ran a 650 mah battery dry in about 2 and a half hours.

The tube being off center at the top is just how it happens sometimes when it is wrapped. But if you look down the tube, the coil will either be centered or scrunched off to the side. You will know the difference between dry burning and this taste. It first happened with kangers to me and I switched to volts and other non kanger brand 808 cartos. I have managed to fix this with a careful poking and centering with a toothpick, followed by a pin from the bottom to make sure it goes up in and nothing is obstructing the air tube.

I'm looking at buying an echo, because I like KR808 cartos, and I have a lot of those.

A couple questions: Where can I get a 1000mAh+ for a good deal? Also, do they make a charger just for the Echo, or can I also just use an adapter on an Ego fast charger? I don't really care about the color of it.

Or, is there any drawback to just getting an Ego and using an adapter for KR808 cartos?

I'm just tired of my 808s always on the charger.

Do you want a kit or just a battery? These are my finding (please, feel free to add) A 1000mAh+ kit is available at Cropduster, MtnVapor, VaporGirl (free shipping with code - look it up). Just batteries is more difficult to find, so far I could only find them at Cropduster & MtnVapor.

Note: Surprisingly, Smokeless Image (Volt) just show their new fat batt (650, 900 & 1300), don't know if it's an Echo tho - check their subforum.

Whoa! I was unaware they now sell Volt Big batts! Thanks for the heads up on that one. I just checked and they carry a 1300 mAh for $30.00, regulated and with a charger. I need to let the 808/Volt folks know about that.

I was looking to just get a battery and charger for now, because I don't want to spend a lot right now.

I'll check the others, and where do you find those codes?
