I know, and for most, you're right its an issue. My only gripe is, its obviously not necessary to have a short cut off, so if you want to make the outliers like myself happy, why do it? :)

you blame the 50 years, I blame the time spent as a professional trombonist and amateur jogger. my lungs (thank god) can get perty bigz

I never reach cutoff on mine unless I'm trying to make it cutoff. It is very hard for me to take a 5 second continous drag. When we first got the echos I posted that they didn't have a cutoff because I took as long a drag as I could and it didn't cutoff but others reported theirs did so after retesting I found out mine did too. That is when I found out how long a five second drag was because it felt like at least 10 seconds to me. I guess most have better lungs than me being as I abused mine for over 50 years of smoking. :2cool:

led and rubberized finish?

But how do we know they are regulated? I made the assumption based on personal observation awhile ago. Did Rob confirm that these versions are regulated?

we can hope, but you may be pushing it, Cyrus. To have a rubberized, automatic, led, regulated battery with a 10 second cutoff? geez....

Answer to email:
Hi Linda,
Our Echo 1300's are not stealth. They are the standard 3.7 regulated (sealed) with LED on the end, blue on the black battery and red/orange on the chrome and stainless.

Thanks.

Rob

Rob's invoice description of product from invoice:
HK Echo 1300 auto battery - black Echo 1300mAh auto battery
Color: Black

Cutoff for me about 5sec but that question is really a non starter since you can hesitate on the draw for about a nanosecond and it will start another draw.

we have to push it. what kind of ...... instituted 5 second cut offs anyway? lol

have you EVER heard of a batt with a 20 second cut off exploding? nope.

IMO the cutoff time is for your safety and retains the integrity of the battery.
BTW the use of the word "......" is offensive to those of us who have family members who are mentally challenged.

Ok!!!!!!!! So we now have regulated and unregulated available! So true about the echo cutoff too. It's unlike any cutoff out there in that if you ease up for a moment (you don't even have to let the led go out) it resets it and if you do trip it, you can immediately inhale again. There is no wait time. All it does it break up a constant draw for less than a second.

Must be something that coincides with regulation, seeing that it's only the regulated ones that keep the cutoff shorter.

And if I puff, puff, puff, I can get the coil going so well that it beats out any push button for heat and vapor. It's all around, just a different type of auto battery that so far, no one can match.

If you count 6-7 seconds short then it's not only the regulated ones. Mine is unregulated and it has about 6-7 seconds cut-off.

But as being said, short cut-off doesn't really bother me since I toke some short puffs in succession, 3-5 puffs and Echo is the best auto battery for doing that, which is my preferable way of vaping :)

the stealths should have a 10 second cutoff. Yours is less than that? I don't think we have rechecked them since the issues got sorted out. Is it a hard cutoff or the short pause that the regulated ones have?

(we know the ones we got from Victoria had the 10 second cutoff.....looking to know about the new stock)

I can see three secs. getting in the way. Three seconds is a final toot for me sometimes. Mine has the 10 sec cutoff. I have to draw directly on the battery to test it though. It's great for about 3 hours. The old version stealths just drop off too quickly. Glad to see they addressed the issue (if it was their issue)

I'm not counting "short". I don't know what that means, CloveHunter. Sounds like it means 5 seconds.lol! Still fine either way. No one should be put off by it either way because it's not like the cutoff on a small kr8 battery and it doesn't get in the way.

True and on mine it's the 'short... er... brief pause' type instead of hard cut-off.

So it's all good now and we have more choice: unregulated/regulated, led/stealth. Good to know.

sorry Lulu :(

and yeah its supposedly 10 seconds, according to Victoria, and what charlz and I have

@everyone: For future reference, when I ask about cut offs, please don't feel the need to tell me that you don't need more than 5 seconds, because I own two perfect echos and am fully aware of how satisfying a even a 3 second drag is. not trying to be catty buddies, just trying to save your breath. we've been over this multiple times. I just want the data point, because *I* won't buy another batt with anything in the 5 second cut off range, it interrupts my fun too often.

thank you for your answers, please keep them coming.

The reason I post about the cutoff when you post is for new people that are browsing the thread and considering getting an Echo. I know you like a long cutoff time but for 90% of the people they will never reach cutoff with a normal drag. Both points are worth bringing up occasionaly because most people don't read through the entire thread. Which by the way is over 3000 posts now as we are almost to the one year anniversary. Most will read the first few pages and then jump to the end and see if people are still liking them.
I appreciate all the comments good and bad. One of the main reason for this thread is to give the new users and those that are thinking about getting an Echo a good ideal of what to expect from using one.:2cool:

I have found that I trained myself to know when the cutoff is. When I looked to see my Echos cut off time, it was just the tiniest bit over my normal draw. I remembered reaching cutoff all the time when starting my adventure in Echoheaven. Oddly enough, my two stealth (old stock from D&B) have a 7 second cut off. Timed it with my stop watch. They are unsealed with no markings, and came in a regular Echo box. Can't verify that it was the true packaging though, as Bill tried them verry breifly by agreement between us, so he wouldn't send me bum units. They still work fantastic and have taken alot of abuse.

We are here for you! Smell the sarcasm? It's a long thread. No one is going to read the whole thing. I wouldn't have bought it if I knew it had a five second cutoff due to my past experiences. But now that I have it, I see it's completely irrelevant.
The posts are so folks know that as they quickly click through to the last few pages.

oops. I see Txtumbleweed already addressed it. and more eloquently too.

No need to change it, CigarMan. We have your back! Just needed to clear it up because, in the light of the issues, we were sceptical of everything for awhile. Some people might not have known what the initials stood for.

And it's nice to know certain things. I assumed regulation but am not an electrical engineer. I didn't want it to become fact until it was confirmed and so far, no one would confirm
