The economics of vaping - monthly cost vs analogs/NRT?

I have been a vaper for just a few months and, ignoring the cost of getting set up (we all have stories here), here are a few financial monthly statistics for my own case - including other methods tried for quitting analogs:

Analogs (3PAD) - £650/month (tobacco very expensive here - taxed heavily)
NRT (lozenges/patches/gum etc) - £240/month (this stuff is expensive here - ridiculous!)
cig-alikes (60 cartomizers) - £150/month
tank/Clearomizer/e-liquid
(60ml) - £20/month

I was a heavy smoker, and now I guess I could be classed as a heavy vaper, but at least my pocket likes where I am at right now - and I am happy too with the way things now are - and my health is improving! And, an important bonus is that I can vape at work (I do not create clouds of vapour there if I can help it), without breaking the law, and this has restored my productivity.

Does anyone else have similar economic tales?

Welcome from another heavy vaper. I had spent so much on other non tobacco methods to stop that my wife was hesitant on my starting to vape. Luckily she let me and I actually, FINALLY, stopped analogs. She couldn't be happier. My health has improved and she occasionally asks me how many analogs I have NOT smoked since stopping.

forget about cost of vaping- it is a no brainer. i started using a ecig and i would say after trial and error the total costs to get off analogs was a few hundred dollars u.s.- now i no longer use analogs or ecigs, has been a few years. i was a 2 pack a day smoker, here in new york-united states that is 7000 dollars a year, so in two years that is $14000 saved- no including the peace of mind i get from not having a monkey on my back.

depends on where you take this.
playing with disposables like egos and clearos is going to lead to upkeep costs.

moving to more advanced mods and DIY juice will lead to heavy outlay at first then very little upkeep cost.
100 foot of wire 9 bucks but i use 2 inches every couple weeks.
12x12 sheet of mesh 15 bucks but it makes 40-50 wicks that last over a month each.
10 feet of silica for 9 bucks but again i use 2 inches every 3 weeks maybe.
DIY juice costs me somewhere around 15-25 bucks per qt of final product.(to put this into perspective a 30ml bottle is 1oz)

then when you get done or over the collecting and playing with mods and attys and this and that, buying pretty much stops altogether.

Welcome, and I have to say keep up the good work. Even If I were spending the same amount vaping, it's healthier! Actually, I think I've spent less than 1/2 than on analogs.

Almost 1 month into vaping. I was spending about $160 a month on analogs. The start-up cost so far is about $200. I wasted probably $40 going with a cig-a-like kit. Now I have 2 900Mah batteries and clearomizers. i figure next month the cost should drop to at least half or $80. Well worth it in my opinion.

This matters from country to country too, here in India a pack of 20 analogs is just $2.2, and those are the most popular good ones. No one can beat that, the only way is to use the RN 4081 who are the grand dads of 510s, BUT who cares I have a few friends who started with me some stayed, some found it expensive and went back to analogs.
I am happy, I used to smoke around 1 and a half pack daily that is around 30 cigs a day for 15 years and now I have not touched a single analog in past 190 days, thats something right? Currently I a proud owner of a couple of vivi novas, a kanger T3, a vamo, 2 twists, 2 ego-t, 2 RN4081, am I a spendthrift or what. ;) I like rebuilding coils and I DIY my own eliquids. Got to save somewhere, right?

As SuzyQ said I too don't know whether I will ever reach the break even or not, but I am happy. :)

Wait, what? You don't even vape anymore?
I'm not saying that's rare, just that most people who stop vaping aren't around to tell about it.

i come back from time to time to contribute and hopefully help with what i went through
yes, i made it a point to quit e cigs as i don't want to be dependent plus what i feel will be the inevitable government sticking its nose into the whole ecigarette thing with taxation and regulation if not outright banning of ecigs because of special interest groups such as big tabacco and pharma companies

E cigs also called smokeless cigarettes as well as e-cigarettes tend to be much less pricey as compared to smoking conventional smokes. The original bunch associated with smokes costs all around $6 (dont forget about levy! ). Just one automated cig cartridge is comparable to just about an entire bunch (approx 25 cigarettes) and only costs a new portion associated with the expense of a new bunch associated with conventional buds. Precisely why invest around $6 a new bunch when you might invest $8. 89 intended for 5 cartridges along with Steam Really?! That is just under $1. 71 a new PACK!!

650 to 150 to 20 seems drastic. I wish I saw those numbers.

I've checked the numbers, and they are right -

3 PAD @ £7/pack = 21x31 = £651
60 carts @ £30/dozen = £150 (think now, could have bought cheaper, but gave up on carts after 1 month, so didn't try)
60ml juice (approx 1+a bit x 1.6ml clearos/day) @ £9.99/30ml = £19.98
