Call me weird, but I have come full circle. After 25 years of smoking, I havent touched a cig in almost 2 years. Started with a Kanger tank, than a Nautilus. As my curiosity grew, a got into mechanicals, dripping, and sub-ohm tanks. I got caught up in the clouds, low ohm buids, and high vg juice @ lower nic level. I found that suddenly Im blowing through 30 mls of juice in a couple days. It all just fell flat for me. Wasnt satisfied with my vape experience anymore.I realized what it was that worked for me in the very beginning. Throat hit! Flavor of course too. I dusted off my Nautilus mini, fired in a new coil and topped it off with some my favorite jucie at 12 mg, and viola! This is my style of vaping, more cig like than ..... LOL To each their own, I do however feel as though manufactures could improve upon their designs, and offer a greater range of options. A top fill Nautilus with more airflow options would be one example. Herakles hydra is on my short list.

It may not seem so when you read a forum like this, but the overwhelming majority of e-cig users are STILL using e-gos and pen style mods, we are a niche not the majority.
In my three years of vaping most folks I know started with a pen ego style setup but quickly upgraded to mechs and RDA's for something better...now since the introduction of subtanks and the high powered VW mods to vape them I don't see any of those same people sticking to the pens they used as a newbie...talking about my many friends I know in the trucking industry who vape across this country of ours, just sayin

No harm no foul. I wasn't pointing you out. The new sub ohm tanks are great for me. I get clouds and flavor with very little maintainence. I just started rebuilding on the RBA plus that comes with the Kanger Sub Tank. This is the perfect setup for me. Easy to build on and works great. I don't have the patience or the time to be messing with anything else right now. But who knows, last year at this time I said I would never start rebuilding and now I'm rebuilding. Like you said its a journey. Cheers.

PS: I still think tootlers are curmudgeons.
I'm a tootler not a curmudgeon..........(*phbbt*):pervy:

Your leaving out the overall majority of the world, vaping in huge in places like Asia, India, and even in the middle east believe it or not. They are BIG on e-gos and pen style mods not to mention cartomizers which only a select crowd here in the states still uses, my wife included heck even me when I'm out and about sometimes. The US is but a drop in the bucket and alot of these nations really can't afford subtanks or DNA 200 mods or even a VTC Mini.

If enough consumers demand non sub tanks they will make them again but sub ohm tanks are what is selling. I got my wife two eGo One Mega tanks and made a high ohm coils and changed out the drip tip and they are now a mouth to lung. So if one is creative their will always be non sub ohm tanks available. I learned a few years ago that only you can make you vape as good as it can be. If you rely on the companies to make you a good vape it will cost you a small fortune putting in coils every second day. If this is not true then why are companies purposely trying to make stock coils harder to rebuild. They put out RBA's just because the building crowd would not buy them if they had no build options. No RBA vapes as good as a stock coil can. Ask anyone that has vaped any of the stock coils I have rebuilt. I have rebuilt just about every coil their is to build. My local store gives them to me and lends me a tank to try them in if needed. Coils are good when the tank hits the market then a short time later they make changes and cheapen them down. I have open coils that have been absolutely stupid that were deemed to fail in minutes of use. Very few build compared to the people that do not want the hassle/or knowledge of building coils/wicking. Building is super easy if you have someone to teach you hands on. That's where companies make their money in people coming back to buy coils. That is my opinion and mine alone as others may disagree with me. CHEERS!

My wife and I vaped those good ol protanks for almost 2 years, rebuilding them is what made our vape experience great. I bought a couple kayfuns and after the first builds I knew that the protanks were history around our house but my wife didn't like how the kayfuns were a hassle to fill so she kept on the protank2's. I still sample my juice mixes in protank. I loved the kayfuns but still have lower ohm problems with lacking airflow just like the protanks. Researched and decided to get her a kanger subtank mini and that was a few months ago, she loves it. Bought myself a couple more subtanks and now my army of kayfuns are being cleaned and shelved as the coils poop out. I can have my wife's subtank recoiled, up and running inside of 5 minutes.
I haven't used a stock coil head since I first began vaping, after my first bad experience with a clearo CE4 coil, I began to research them and found you can rewick and rebuild them. The closest to stock coil I've tried is the pre installed clapton that came with my TFV4 kit, thought I'd give it a try with their cotton and it vapes great.

I agree...If you can't be bothered to learn to rebuild attys then its really too bad since you will never fully experience what a quality vape you can really have. DIY your juice also and the vape experience just gets better. I had to learn through Youtube and forum threads. I didn't have anybody show me nothing in how to rebuild my attys.

The ones that use eGo or pen-style systems consistently don't care about the latest and greatest. It costs money and they have better things to do. Because the discussion here is so hobby-oriented, it leaves them out of the discussion.

All they want is to stay away from the stinkies and continue their lives.

Edit: AlterUrego, what is a quality vape to one person is not necessarily a quality vape to another. You just assume that it costs to have a quality vape.

I use the RBA on the subtank, just because I'm cheap and don't mind rewicking every couple days.
What RBA do you have? the newest one with the big holes? What wick set up are you using and how often do you have to rewick? do you rewick because of flavor or burning cotton?
Could you drop by and answer here?
The newest Subtank RTA build

Is it just me or are more and more companies focusing on SubOhm tanks rather than standard 1.0 Ohm+ tanks?

Don't get me wrong... I own a few of the big SubOhm tanks as well as the entire line of Aspire tanks (Nautilus & Mini, K1)

It seems like they are a dime a dozen and Aspire are just settling with "Version 1" of theirs.

Even after getting into rebuilds, and sub ohm Vaping, I still use my Nautilus/Mini on a daily basis alongside my Atlantis V.2 at .3 Ohms.

I'd love to see a version 2 or even a revision of the Nautilus Mini (favorite tank to date) come out this year, but I ask the community...

Are standard tanks dead? What would make you switch back (if you're using a sub ohm tank) to a standard tank?

I'm excited to read what the community says!

I'm with you on wanting to see a nautilus mini V2 upgrade, maybe 22 mm wide and shorter without that bell cap but holding more juice, and dual airflow holes but uses the same 1.6 and 1.8 ohm coils.
Every time people bring up the lack of non sub ohm tanks, people trot out the subtank mini and triton as good for both subohm and tootle puffing high ohm coils. Um, one size doesn't fit all, even those high ohm stock coils have the bigger wick holes made for higher vg. I'm still trying to make the subtank mini work for my 70pg/30vg without airhole juice leaks having to order the V1 RBA with the smaller juice channels at the bottom instead of the huge ... juice holes on the side made for high VG that the V2 RBA that came with it had. Trying to make a tank do everything, mouth to lung tootle puffing AND decent subohming straight to lung is a lost cause unless you do high vg and higher power than 8 to 10w and accept mediocre performance. My humble opinion of course and others may differ.
I am making my own v2 nautilus mini, cosmetic only, for the fun of it I will upload pics when I get a chance :D

Manly and tootle/puffer do not belong in the same sentence ;)
Haha believe me I didn't make up the term, I voted for cowboy vaper ;) course tootle puffing 24 mg Nic on a glass bell shaped nautilus mini doesn't humble cloud chuckers .. Until I let them take a lung hit even after I warn them and watch their eyes water lol :D as I said above I'm going to man up my nautilus mini appearance and post a pic. Be afraid. Be very afraid. Haha

Ohhh... top fill nautilus and nautilus mini... Good idea! Add a higher range of air flow, 22mm wide, and shorter than the naughty mini and I'm in! Throw in an optional single coil RBA deck with adjustable juice flow control and I'm really in!
