Sorry. I'm just not seeing the point hiding it unless it's not an original. We all know the first number to be sold of the final version was 61 and we know that some guys have serials in the 19xx range. If somebody would for any strange twisted reason get hold of a real serial, he only would need to pick a number from 61 to 1900. There is no reason to hide it unless a) it doesn't have a serial or b) it's the serial I already mentioned.
Anyway, I was just letting out some steam as we are all trying to help right?
As I said before, I dug through where I could and no similar case is known. Can it happen? Sure, anything can happen. Didn't Ayrton Senna died at the track because the direction' steel rod broke at over 200mph? And they take x-rays of that stuff before installing it in a car so yes I'm sure a chimney can fail. The doubt is... Isolated case or a design flaw?

Anyway, I can bring water to a horse but I can't make it drink it.

Yeah, I replaced the tank. That's the second one that has broken, both knocked over. That's the drawback of a 22mm tank on a 21mm attie, the tank's the first thing to hit.

You need to invest in some of those rubber tank rings/bumpers me thinks.

Loving the new nano tank on my ErlyK. Warmer for sure. But oh so pleasant.

Awaiting my new Erlp and the aforementioned extra-tall chimney which perhaps can offer a solution to my recent stuck bubble issue, whereby I keep getting unreleased bubbles forming underneath the flutter ring when I switch to one of my favorite thicker 50/50 juices.

Why don't you get rid of the ring, Folkphys? I think that it has been determined that there's no real reason for it being there unless you're wicking with Silica.

Nothing would help with glass tanks Jaxbro. If glass topples over - they will shatter, unless the surface was super soft, which could soften the impact.

My Fogger and Ag-TD would wear two extra o-rings each on the outer top and bottom portions of their glass tubes. Saved me a few clutzy over-swipes at my desk, for sure. However, not so much when I did the old swing-yer-atty-real-hard to clear a flood, holding it with my butter hands.

Chimney broke at the joint between the top cap thread and main chimney body. Note the thinness of the main body at the broken joint section (see 2nd photo).

Serial no blank out for privacy (it's in 1000+ range).

I've never seen or heard that before.

I'd suggest to send the broken chimney (all two parts) back to i2r and I'm sure you'll get the shipping costs refunded. And maybe they also will send you a replacement? ...I think they might be interested in how this could happen.

Yeah. I'll give that a go next time around. I've been reluctant to because I'm (irrationally?) convinced that this ring is more than a just a silica wick tie-down.....which is why I sometimes call it a "flutter ring". I seem to think my flutter ring kind of paddles in the juice while I suck, a sort of auto-turbulator if you will....

I'd suggest to send the broken chimney (all two parts) back to i2r and I'm sure you'll get the shipping costs refunded. And maybe they also will send you a replacement? ...I think they might be interested in how this could happen.

That would be my move too and I'm sure they'll do the right thing.
If they send him a new chimney, Myauto should ask them to expressly state on the envelope / box "Warranty replacement" so that customs don't try to pull a stunt. I have no knowledge of how Malaysian customs work but I suspect they are similar to most countries so rather safe than sorry.

I'm sorry, you're being an a** hidding the serial number. As far as I know, it might be serial no 3641 which is the fasttech clone crap.

What is it with people hidding the serials anyway, what are we going to do with them huh?
Actually I remember a thread about the microstick where there was a mix-up and the guy putting the serial numbers repeated a number and two guys got the same serial. Had it not be known, in a couple of years there could be a hell of a mix-up if one was to sale the mod and the other would claim that serial as his.

I truly want to believe you have an authentic and I was merely asking about the serial to determine the batch but I'm not playing hide and seek with you. It's your chimney and your problem.

Sorry, I didn't see that line.

If it's in the 1000+ it should be a normal production run unless i2r made changes. Somehow I would have been more relieved if the number was an really early one because usually at the beginning there are always small things that are being polished (like the threading bit stopping early.

From the pics it looks like a stress fracture right where the threads stop. I hope it's an isolated failure but my guts aren't agreeing. I hope they are wrong.

Wouldn't you want to know if maybe you got a fake at full retail price? If I hadn't been on this thread and I walked into a B&M and saw an erlkoenigin at $150 with a serial 3641 I might buy it believing it was authentic.

Anyway, you're right, I was out of line. I hope you get it sorted.
