It is impossible to get twice the mah time by stacking batteries in series. It would break the laws of physics.

You get twice the mah rating(approximately) when you stack them in parallel. Stacking in series increases the voltage. This is how batteries work, whether they are in a regulated mod or not.

Check out this thread. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...cussion/450573-stacked-18350s-vs-18650-a.html

I'm sure you're right that it doesn't actually double the mAh. But, I can say for sure that two 18350s in a VAMO gives me much more vaping time than one 18350. In that thread you linked they talked about how stacking two 18350s compares to one doesn't get as much time as one 18650, which makes sense because even in parallel when the mAh is doubled you still don't get as much mAh as a single 18650.

They probably last more stacked because "down volting" from 7.4v(2 18350 stacked) is less stressful than "up volting" from 3.7 :p

Yes. regulating down vs regulating up plus the efficiency of the regulation(actually the inefficiency of up regulation) could make two 18350 batteries run longer than one 18350(within the voltages we use them for), but no where near the amount of time you could get out of an 18650.

An 18350 has what? a max of maybe 800mah? That is basically what you should expect to get out of two 18350's stacked, give or take some efficiency of the regulation. Whereas you can get what, 2000 or even 3000 out of an 18650?

Same with 2 18490's stacked which is what I believe was being proposed. That is about what, maybe 1100mah?

The post was specifically talking about length of time in operation. ie, long battery life.

I don't have a pair of 18490's to try it like this but I like long battery life so I'm thinking about getting some. Can anyone confirm for battery length?

If he wants longer operating time, he should just stick with One 18650, not stacking any batteries. If he wants to push some really high wattage's than stacking maybe appropriate but you would still need to be aware of amp limits on the batteries as stacking them does not change their internal amp limits(although stacked in parallel...not series... will up the overall max applied amperage). FT order says shipped as of yesterday 11/21 but no tracking info from the FT site as of yet. Also says USPS. Any idea on how long before I can expect to see any tracking info? This is my first Ft order, a Steam Turbine and a Kraken. Taifun GT is waiting to ship 11/27.

Should I use some other site for tracking?

On their best of days, it would take 24-48 hours to show up on tracking. Pretty normal.

I find it easier to just not look at the tracking info for a good 5-7 days...you'll feel much better about yourself after not losing sleep over the waiting game.

Similar thing with me. Ordered 10th Oct, status "shipped" on Oct 12th. Not here yet. I've had a ticket open on this for a while now, starting very politely (of course) and getting a little firmer over time. I last posted to this ticket over three days ago, but no reply from FT.

I don't mind waiting but this is getting a bit silly now - and like you I'm doing the Dire Straits thing...:)

Got a reply this morning:

"Sorry for the wait.

A hongkong post updated with us that your order is still at hongkong waiting to the strict customs inspection, would you please kindly give it another several days?

If your hongkong post reported to us that your package was returned, we wil issue a refund to you soon.

Thank you."

Blimey!

Of course it's impossible, because there's no such unit as "mah time." mAh already includes a time unit. And, it's roughly equivalent to a measure of energy, since there's a voltage component implied when used to measure batteries, although the voltage will vary a bit during use. For a common lithium cell, the energy stored in Joules is approximately 13 x the mAh capacity. Oh, Joules are the same as Watt-seconds, which make it a handy unit for vaping: a 2000 mAh cell will store about 26000 Joules, which is the equivalent of vaping at 6.5 Watts for 1000 4 second hits (6.5x1000x4=26000).

If you have 2 batteries of the same size, you have twice the energy of 1 battery. It really is that simple. That's how the laws of physics work.

Put those 2 cells in a mechanical without changing anything else, and you'll actually get less time because the 2x voltage means you're generating 4x Watts. But, also use a coil with 4x the resistance, and you'll generate the same Wattage, and be able to do so for twice as long. Or put those 2 cells in a regulated device, and you'll also get more time - how much depends on the design of the regulator.

Ok, I just placed this order for six of these

https://www.fasttech.com/products/1450301

For a total of twelve batteries (plus 6 handy dandy carry cases), the cost was 28.44 with quantity discount. The shipping cost was 21.00. A total of 49.44 bucks shipped. That makes the cost of the batteries 4.12 bucks each. They are scheduled to ship tomorrow via speed post global express. This works out cheaper than anything I can find state side (IMR) WITHOUT a case, and I'd still pay shipping. Maybe I can get them faster state side, but this shipping option SAYS 4 to 9 days. Fair enough. I'm all in lol

I know some will flame me for the dreaded 'fire' named batteries, but honestly I have been using these for the past couple of months with no issues. They last great, IMR chemistry, and the six I have in rotation now all have charged to 4.1v consistently without getting even warm. I own aw, and efest too. I honestly can't tell any difference between them except for the physical dimensions. It may be a little premature to judge these, but I'm confident in them for now.

Anyway, part of me wanted to get them for my Daughter and her Hubby (he's a good guy, and takes care of my Baby). Four for her, four for him, and four MORE for me! :D. The other part was to just see how this goes. I'll post results for any/all interested.

Well, interesting news today. Ft just issued me a credit back to PP for this order. It had been 'ready to ship' a day after I originally posted this.

This is the reply I got,

I am sorry to tell you that package containing lithium battery is rejected by the post office, you can refer to this: Hongkong Post - Notices - Delay In Outbound Air Mail Services

We can't find the alternative way to ship the lithium battery now, therefore we've cancelled your order and issued the refund to your PayPal account.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Kind regards,

Lydia

Looks like the speed post option isn't an option after all.

At least FT took care of this BEFORE it got caught up in the black hole. Looks like they have this much figured out now.

Oh well, this was mostly a test. I can still get batts, just have to get some state side

sigh,,,,,,

well,,,,,,,,they issued me a refund,,,,,,,,in GIFT CERTIFICATE FORM.

I have absolutely NO DESIRE WHATSOEVER to ever order from FT again.

I ordered a Vamo in late July,,,,,,,ordered the wrong color, so I cancelled the order, got an immediate GC, and re-ordered the right color.

It never showed up,,,,,,,,,but since I paid for that one with a GC, they will only issue a GC for a refund.

GAAH!

whatever,,,,,,,,,

I am hoping if I order something today, I'll get it by Christmas,,,,,,,,,,,maybe.

what's the deal on shipping with FT lately? any faster than 8 weeks?????? Are Ego's having problems getting in or are they still an issue?

Might as well order some backups for the backups to use up this 50 bucks,,,,,,,,
