It's the exact opposite here in the states. The less the model being used looks like the real thing, the more positive reaction one gets. The more it looks like the real thing, the more negative the reaction. And police have better things to do over here.
I know, it's weird. It's like, I get more stick because I don't smoke, rather than "what is that thing". Everyone smokes, smoked at some point in their life or knows a smoker. You just don't get all look-down-your-nose at people who smoke here because almost everyone does. I tell them what it is they're like, pah why don't you just smoke like the rest of us.

Using a cig style pv I get the best of both, I get to vape and not get hassled.

I did notice when I was in America, that no one really seemed to care I was vaping but it was a college town I was staying in haha

I think I just have insanely bad luck with the police here. Not the first time I've been pulled aside for half an hour for something legal or something I didn't do. I don't like the police

How did ya'll get over vaping in public? I hide and get me a few drags like I use to in school in the girls bathroom. Do you remember when? I am very scared I will get caught, and have to stand in the corner. LOL:laugh:

How do people treat you when your smoking a cigarette? It's gotta be better than that.

I keep it discreet but not furtive, as someone mentioned. I also don't feel badly about it, though, and use it in places where smoking isn't allowed, as long as I can be discreet about it. My pv doesn't look anything like a cigarette, which helps, I find. I've never gotten a negative response. When asked about it, I refer to it as a vaporizer that helped me quit smoking. Nonsmokers are approving and smokers are curious for more information :) If I'm in someone's house, I always ask permission to use it and explain what it is. No one has had a problem with it so far :)

Personally I believe it's inviting trouble to take advantage of this major selling point. I refrain from using my e-cig openly. When in public and I need a drag I find a vacant area or blow into my sleeve; people are less inclined to ask questions or accost you. I'm sure it won't be long before our community can come out into the open with these, at that point it'll be less of a hassle.

I got my self a KR808 similar to a regular cigarette. Smoking where I am is very natural and everyone knew I smoked. Strangers didn't notice a thing, but my friends did. A few days later I got an Ego-T because I needed something stronger, but I kept that for home use, and KR808 for public use. I get enough looks already from my KR808, I wonder what would happen with the Ego-T. The funny part is when I pass someone in the street, and they wonder why they didn't smell any smoke.

If everyone who vapes followed your path, then it will be "very long" or "never" before vaping will be accepted. How can something that is hidden in dark places, like being a leper, every be brought out "into the open" to use your words if those who vape are afraid to do it openly?

Perception is reality. If the perception put forth by those who vape is that it should be hidden and shunned, then it should be hidden and shunned and that is the perception that you are putting forth.

I use mine just like I would a cigarette, outside while at work (grocery store lol) and in my car like usual. However, I just got a pink kgo and have had several coworkers tell me it looks like something illegal or contraband. I guess I wonder what will ever happen if I run across a cop while vaping with it lol. I am in a small town-the ONLY e cigs sold here are the 21st century ones and nobody really uses them (know one guy who has bought 3 of them because they keep quitting on him).

So, has anyone had to deal with being questioned about how legal these are? And what do you say? Luckily most of the officers in town know me from when I worked at the convenience store, however there are several newer officers now. Call it being paranoid I guess. But it isn't going to stop me until it is an issue-like someone else pointed out, if you try to hide it people will think you are doing something wrong!

What would they think a pink KGO is? I can't imagine what they'd mistake it for.

My mom was vaping her pink ego in the hospital and a nurse came in and she flipped it over and pretended it was a pen and started writing with it. She told me this little tidbit when I went to visit her later like she pulled a fast one. I'm sure they knew what she was doing, they knew she vaped.

I can't imagine someone not knowing what it is. If anyone asked- first I'd tell them they ought to get out more , then I'd hand them a card and tell them what it is.

Gee officer, do you see any place on this thing for me to stick in illegal substances? Why aren't my eyes all messed? Shouldn't my car be reeking of something illegal?

Chi-Town Vapers sent along a card with the order for juice I got from them that explains a bit about the PVs. I also stuck the instruction book for my eGo in the carrying case. If I get hassled by law enforcement will whip them out.

Back in 83 or so my dad was drinking a diet coke or pepsi, cop pulled him over cause he thought he was drinking a can of coors light..... I guess every so often a stupid cop gets through to the force.

I only have one problem vaping in public. Strangers keep wanting to try my pv. I am all about educating but gonna have to buy some of those disposible cover things cause I don't want people putting thier mouths on something I am gonna put in my mouth.

speaking of those covers, I know I saw them on a website. Anyone have a site they can direct me to? Nobody knows what these e cigs are like and I would love to let them try (or the few that have heard of them tried the gas station ones and hate how they taste/feel). I would love to let them try mine.

There is little risk of catching anything nasty by letting someone suck on your cartomizer. If you are feeling nervous you can always carry a disposable alcohol wipe but I find a sleeve works well enough.

I totally agree with you, we have to let the world know that, this is a good thing and not to be ashamed of. We are so much better off than smoking! Only in public does it bring public awareness. I only knew about PV's cause I saw some one vape in public and ask what is that thing you are puffing on. Got me excited enough to try and now I am smoke free! Because 1 person had the balls to do it in public, It changed my life! This is what we all should want to do. Thanks wv2win

Honestly the only thing your going to do while vaping in public is educate people . When I was staying at a hotel with my hubby for the week I was out with all of the smokers and a few smokers was asking questions. The next day one of the gentleman stated that he had gone on liberty flights and ordered my setup as he was so impressed with it. Every once in a while you do get people looking sideways when I see that I look directly at them and explain what I am doing. Some people don't know about e-cigs or expect them to look like a cig (I use a pink Riva with a XL Clearomizer with a steel drip tip) once you educate its all good. :)

I have found that many other smokers are curious and approach you and ask what that thing is. I have turned several people onto vaping and they have all put their cigarettes down.
