is to always have the backup with you. I'm still using my "starter kit" 900mAh VV batteries and, until yesterday, always had both with me. Wife and I left the house at 16:00 and the only battery I had with me died at 16:30. We didn't get home until 22:00. Thought I was going to go insane. At least when I was smoking I could just buy a new pack!

I suppose it's time to add to the hardware stable and relegate the existing stuff to emergency glove box duty.

I personally never carry a backup. Admittedly, I am more or less a shut in, unless I am on my bike or going to a family members house. I work from home so it works out to sometimes not even stepping outside for a couple weeks at a time. When I do leave though, I just always make sure I have a fresh charged battery, and a full tank. Maybe I am just fortunate that I haven't had a coil go bad on me while I am out. That could be due to a touch of OCD and making sure I have a new one in all the time. I see on here alot of folks carry multiple devices though. My question is it because of instances like the OP, or rather to just have variety on the go?

I usually carry two setups... depending on pocket space, etc.

I could carry one setup, but then I'd need spare batteries and a spare bottle of juice anyways. Besides, no matter how much I trust my setups not to fail; some people who want to "give it a try" tend to fubar my setups. Like severely dry-burn the wick or such.

Quick trip to the store? Just chuck any setup in any pocket. Going out for unknown amount of time + possible randomness: Two setups, batteries, bottle of juice.

OP, you have found an excellent excuse to go gear shopping! :D

I need variety too much to carry one setup for most outings beyond the mailbox. I generally carry at least two. No need for backups usually because I'm pretty paranoid about ensuring a good coil and battery charge before I leave the house, so for me it's really solely a question of needing multiple flavors.

I only carry one device when out and about. Luckily I grabbed about 20 free samples of njoy disposables last year and keep a couple of those in my center console if my setup is having issues. I'll sometimes bring one along if i'm not driving and my battery isn't fully charged. Overall i'm not too concered if i'm w/o a vape for a few hours.
