I just quit smoking and switched to vaping yesterday, so I only have 24 hours of experience (literally). But in that 24 hours, I have not used my inhaler once. I used to also drink 5-6 sodas a day (usually while smoking - it dried out my mouth or something), haven't had 1. I haven't felt the urge to snack either. One of the main reasons I wanted to quit smoking was to bring down my asthma (seemingly accomplished) and to help put an end to the bronchitis I get every time I get a sniffle. Well, that and live longer and avoid lung cancer and the like. I'm completely thrilled that the effects seem so immediate! I wasn't even expecting to kick the soda habit too!

Just like I was saying about my Mt. Dew addiction-GONE! This is the best thing you could have done for yourself. Now don't get scared off if you get some mouth sores and a bit of a cold, sore throat, or pimples in the next few weeks or months. It is the toxicity of the cigs getting out of your body. Stick with vaping and it will go away. And everything you are feeling now after only 24hrs is gonna double! You will be amazed at how good you will feel! Vape on!

I don't know if it's just me but I haven't had a cold or even a sniffle for over two years since I started vaping. I don't recall ever not having at least one bout of a cold per year ..ever! Plus over this same time period my wife has had several really bad colds. She never smoked so there is no need for her to vape.....unless... lol.

Smoking definitely hinders your immune system. But idk, I've gotten sick, but it hasn't been anything serious like I'm used to. Like I mentioned before, before I quit, every little sniffle would turn into a fairly serious case of bronchitis. I know tobacco was to blame for that.

The strange thing for me is that my eyesight is better. A couple of months ago I thought I was going to have to get new glasses because I couldn't read from a distance as well as I used to, street signs were tough to read. But since I started vaping I've seen a big improvement. Maybe it's coincidence or because my sinuses are clearer also, but I'm giving vaping all the credit on this one.

This is cool, this is a new twist on the topic for me. But I do believe that with all the toxins in a real cig that they could affect every part of your body! So I would have to give vape the credit too, because eyes don't clear up on their own as far as I know!

According to my Dr., smoking is to blame for everything wrong with everything Not that it isn't bad - but I did doubt that it was as bad as he made it out to be. I'm starting to think now though that he wasn't TOO far off...

PG is a known bug killer, so makes sense.

P.S. Great thread.

has anyone else mentioned added motivation to actually stay properly hydrated all day?
when i was a smoker and a student i had a pretty rough phase where i would drink full pot of coffee in two sessions at home, about a pot at work (cafe job where you were allowed to study), and a half pot of decaf at home. i tried to chug water every now and then, but it wasn't enough for the sheer volume of the stuff i was consuming. sometimes i would bake muffins with a whole crapload of instant coffee. i estimated according to my recipe that each muffin was a half cup of coffee. i would also snack on these at home and at school. i was pretty heavily addicted. i wasn't nearly as tweaked out as someone should be after all that.
i've started vaping once i finished school. i've been drinking less coffee and i'm not sure whether to blame post secondary, cigarettes, or both. maybe i just felt really crappy about my body acidity being astronomically high? anyways i have about 24 ounces of coffee in an average day. oftentimes less, very rarely do i consume more. i drink a tonne of water and herbal tea now. it's what i crave and i feel so much better.

I've noticed that my alergies have disapeared. In the spring time I would be blowing my nose and getting post nasal drip. I've been vaping since January 2011. Last spring and this spring my alergies have been non existent. I think the cigarette smoke was iratating my nasal passages and made them more sensitive to pollen. I have lost 10 lbs since vaping. I don't crave the sweets like I used to. I'm not easily winded when exercising like I used to be either.

Actually smoking is really bad for our eyesight. No joking here. The little capillaries in the eye need oxygen to keep the retina healthy. I'm not a doc. Some doc on this thread can tell it better. But bottom line is that it's not your imagination. That your vision may have improved from vaping instead of smoking.

I've been vaping for 34 months and up until a few months ago I hadn't gotten sick once.

But then I did get sick, which really bummed me out because I had to stop saying I have never gotten sick since I started vaping.
But even though I did get sick, it was gone in about two days, rather than a week.

You know how when you start getting sick, sometimes you know it's going to be bad.
Well this one started out with all the signs of being one of those.
But then, it just faded away.

Good point here. Honestly everyone knows that vaping can tend to dry you out a bit and make you thirsty. However, I noticed that downing a coke after vaping cinnamon doesn't mix well as with a lot of flavors. So, I reach for the water! I drink so much more water now everyday than ever before. And that is very good for you! Good call on the hydration on this post! Keep it coming guys, I Love this!

Me and my wife went out of town on Easter weekend to visit. We both picked up a cold which everyone there had. Usually when I get a cold, I'm sicker than a dog for at least a week, sometimes two. I had mild symptoms for a couple of days. Then on the 3rd day, I left work early because I was sick. I choked down some Buckley's, went to bed and woke up 8 hours later feeling 100%. That was the end of it. That's never happened to me before. My wife was still sick a week and a half later and sleeping 14 hours a day. Was it from the PG? Who knows? There might be something to it.

I've been drinking a lot more water lately too since I started vaping and I know prior to this I was practically walking around in a constant state of dehydration. So this can only be a good thing. I used to have digestive problems and was hospitalized twice because of it. But since I began more properly hydrating, I feel a good deal better overall and hope to keep seeing improvement.

I've also noticed the ability for vaping to sate cravings and am hoping it will help me lose some weight.

Senses of taste and smell have improved, and I'm breathing better. Hoping it will help this spring with allergies and related occasional migraines.

There is one other thing I'm concerned about and would really like to know if anyone else has experienced it. Since I started vaping. my urine has taken on a pretty strong odor unlike any of the normal smells it would get from time to time. It started when I started vaping and has been very consistent ever since.

i'd like to think that it's my body exkreting (wow got a weird forum filter here) decades worth of toxins from smoking that have been stored up in my body fat, but I can't be sure that it's not from the vaping itself, perhaps from the PG or something. Has anyone else experienced this?

This may be of interest to you and several others who experienced the same...

Buerger's disease - MayoClinic.com

Shortly (weeks) after switching to vaping, my hands were no longer numb when I wake up in the morning. It hasn't happened since. It was an every morning thing for a few years. I don't know what caused it. A few shakes and clenches typically worked the numbness out.

I didn't even noticed it stopped until someone else posted about it here.

I have to admit this is the first I have heard on this one. As far as is it the vaping, all I can say is I have not experienced any issues no matter if I was vaping pg or vg or what flavor. I would like to think it could go in to that area of the pimples and mouth sores and stuff that people experience when they quit analogs. But, not sure. Good stuff guys, Love the posts, always checking back to see who said what! Awesome!
