anyone dry burned one of these bad boys yet? I have a 1.5ohm and the coil looks a little baked..
Someone on one of the other threads talked about dry burning them, but since they recommend not dry burning them and they are $21 a pop I've resisted. I'm scraped some of the juice crust off mine with a dental pick and I am so tempted to dry burn, but they seem to still vape as well as ever with the crust after a good PGA soak and go in the ultrasonic cleaner.

update:

after three weeks rotating a 1.5, 2.5 and a 3 ohm short barrels, the flavor is now weak, the draw is very tight. I only used light juices, 30% VG, cleaned them ultrasonic every 4 or 5 days....Broke them in as advertised and recommended.
So for me: I will not buy them anymore, for that amount of money to get this little time out of them is not worth it.
Back to rebuildables, IKV's en cheap standard 510's.

I did love the way they worked for two weeks, really great!!

Dry burning is not a good thing to do, especially on a 22 buck atty. It will clean your coil and work better for a little while but it will be short lived. It damages the atomizer coil and sometimes the wick. If ever using a dry burn it should only be a last ditch effort, if cleaning will not help and you plan on throwing it away anyway then I guess maybe dry burn to get a few more days of use but overall dry burning is not a permanent solution. this is my opinion along with many others.

ordered my 357 ong Sep 26th 2011. Cleaned it often. Now its really caked and its spiting at me vaper is still great if i dont flood it. Now its getting really touchy. BWB honey flue reo grand .3.7v since the 26th. I just ordered a new one. My lr306 will never last this long, they would last but still will not give this much vaper and flavor when they got caked like this one is.

If you can't revive your .357 with soaks, you might want to try a couple of other methods.

Give it an everclear or vodka bath, and then run a toothpick vigorously across the coils. Blow out, resoak, and repeat. See how that works out.

If nothing works to get your atty back to working condition, try a dry burn. At that point, you really have nothing to lose since you are at a point where you are no longer able to use the atty normally.

A dry burn is typically something I never recommend with a .357 because the chance of you frying it is pretty high....but if you can't use the atty anymore, at that point you have nothing to lose.

After you dry burn, blow it out, soak it, blow it out, and load it up!

Good luck!

I'm no expert, but I have done some mild dry burns on my HH .357 and it still works great.

I fire it until the coil just starts to glow orange and then cut the power and set it down for several minutes. Two or three cycles usually burns off any crud on the coils. I use an eGo battery, so that's approximately 3.2 to 3.4 volts. If it were as bad as the one posted by Steve414, I'd think it would need another PGA soak after a few dry burns and then blown out gently from the threaded end.
