I was excited to get my first order of flavor samples in from The Apprentice. Really excited. Checking the shipping status every 30 seconds excited. My mind swam with visions of the myriad elixirs that would be conjured forth with the power of my syringe. Such fantastic flavors to be composed; I felt like Willy Wonka just waiting for his e-liquid Factory to arrive! You can imagine the glee I felt when I saw the delivery waiting for me on the kitchen table. I may have squealed (just a little bit).
With the speed and ferocity of a panther with a nic fit, I tore open the package, washed my tools and bottles, set up my workstation, assembled all of the tiny 4mL bottles of flavor in front of me, and carefully considered the first recipe to try. Espresso and tobacco, with a little bit of butterscotch, that could be good! I add a couple of drops of espresso, a couple of drops of butterscotch, and I top it off with some M-Type tobacco flavor.
"Smells alright! I'll put a mil into my clearo and give it a taste..."

I only used 5% of the M-Type in the flavor base, and it tasted like a chemical weapon. The Geneva Convention must have some rule against this stuff. I poke around the forum for some other user's experiences with this flavor, and the overwhelming consensus was, you could say, not enthusiastic. However, I'm not one to turn down a challenge! I've decided to attempt to create a good recipe using this flavor. Not just passable, but good. It would be madness to not get the most out of my $1.40 investment!
M-Type Gentleman Blend (V.01)
5mL 50/50 @ 8mg
7% TFA Caramel
4% TFA Bittersweet Chocolate
4% TFA Molasses
4% TFA Vanilla (Bourbon)
2% TFA Sweetener
1% TFA M-Type
As you can see, I took the "kitchen sink" approach on the first version of the recipe. I'm hoping the combo of caramel and chocolate will stand up and complement the nutty onslaught of the M-Type. Vanilla and molasses was added to try and round out the aroma, and a couple of drops of sweetener to beat back a bit of the bitterness. The sniff test passed for the most part, but I'm going to let this sucker steep for a week or more before I even attempt to try it. By then, I'll be able to test drive my new 501 attys and drip tips on their way from Madvapes, which has me compulsively checking my shipping status all over again!
I'll report back next week when I give it a taste. In the mean time, do you have a tasty mix using the M-Type flavor? Post it here!
