I made a flashlight Magnum a while back, it worked okay, but the circuit board kept coming loose. More importantly the switches kept dying, and I was burning up atomizers all the time. I found a solution for both

The MagBox. The BoxMag. The Magnum in a box.

Not wanting to waste my money on the 3v CR2 batteries and charger I bought, I worked out a way to wiggle 2 CR2s in the place of one AA, in a 2 AA holder. I had to relocate the springed battery contact to have enough clearance lengthwise. CR2s are 1 millimeter wider than AAs, so I had scrape some plastic away from the divider between the cells to make clearance widthwise. I scraped some plastic off the cover to make more room as well, but the cover still sits crooked, so it has to be screwed ito place to stay together. The other key part of this mod is leaving the centre post of the battery connector open for more airflow, to keep the atomizer from burning up so quickly. So the draw is light on an RN4075 atomizer and REALLY light on a true DSE901 atomizer, since the DSE has a larger hole on the side than the RN. And the vapour is unholy. This is running at 6 volts with the rechargeable CR2s, a 2 second draw makes more vapour than a 5 second draw on a standard e-cig battery, or standard 3.7 volt mod. I get some harsh hits off it when the liquid runs low, it's a real juice hog, so it's for special occasions only! Next I have to find a slide on/off main power switch to add above the push switch so it's pocketable. I don't need another one going up in smoke in my jacket or pants!

I've got myself one of these boxes sitting here, waiting till i could order some 14500 li-ions to run a 3.7, single battery box. May have to do this one instead.

Youfillintheblank, R.S. does sell mini slide switches that migth be what you want 2-Pack 3-Amp SPDT Sub-Mini Slide Switch - RadioShack.com

Been looking at them myself for using as a master switch.

I actually have a couple from some other battery boxes that have since deceased. I've been working nights this week, and haven't gotten around to installing one. It's definitely on the to-do list, I've already killed one brand new atomizer with it. I need some more batteries too, I go through 2 sets a day right now. This one is really good for thin liquids like Johnson creek.

Awesome, Youfillintheblank!..
I found a site that sells the AA 2 compartment box with a on/off switch
Battery holder: 2 x AA Covered Battery Holder with On-Off Switch - BB2AA
(I ordered but crazy shipping cost to Canada though but had a choice to pick USPS to help keep it down..)
Always wondered if using total 6V would kill the atomizers..we've been sticking with 3.6V cause of that..didn't realize you can "up" it ..!

PS we made boxes for 801s..with 1 batt 10440 but still had to change batts a bit too often..we just got 14500 batts in so that'll be better..but really would love to try your batts:)

Blank ... have you been following the thread about Ben's disposable atomizer/carts? He says they will fit on a 901 battery connection but can't be used on a 901 battery because of the aiflow.

I think they should work with one of these mods if you leave the hole in the center of the battery connection open. From what i recall he said they would sell for $3.00 each and can be refilled. Thought they may be an interesting option for modders.

Misty - i found that site too and checked the shipping - it's $10.00 in the US for a $2.00 part. So shipping is a little steep here too.

Who is this magical Ben of which you speak?

This mod is not for everyone AND not every liquid. Some liquids (like CaSH cola) burn really easily and taste like death. 6 volts works okay for me, as long as you keep the centre post open. I did kill a really new atomizer yesterday though.

I'd love to find a battery holder for 5 AAAs, I could load up 4 batts, and use the leftover space for the connector and switch, but I don't think they exist.

Yeah, I love the low low price of $20 for shpping, I think I'll go with the $52 UPS rate though :p yeah right batteryspace.com!

I put one of these together last week and I'm loving it so far. I've built standard box mods, usb mods, nicostick mods, detonator/magnum mods, etc. and this is my new favorite. Yeah it was a pain to sand down the casing to get the cr2s to fit flush but besides that, it went together so much faster than the flashlight mods and if it ever fails, it's a much easier fix. I actually didn't go with that switch you used since I found that it's my primary failure point on my mods but rather used the larger switch that's referenced on the "improved nicostick". It's actually a softer button and I've used it before and I think it's my go-to switch now. Thanks for the good idea!
