Meet Me in St Louie Louie
I just watched like fifteen rap battles of history and now I am thinking there's a verse to be made with the title of this thread.

The Mashers, the crank it ups
the noobs who won't understand
I've a long barrel on my mod and my juice bottle in my other hand
Dumping your savings into getting a blu
Then ask me if it's better if you switch to V2
Fool. The good stuff doesn't look like an analog
Take it from me, i've got my own cloud of fog,
weatherman thinks it's smog while you're getting ripped at the mall.

You cry it ain't working while your nic's too low
So opposed to a button so you can't work an ego
There goes your kid's college fund while you're buying carts by the box
I'm rolling my eyes while vaping at ten watts
Ain't got time to listen to your whining
I've got a genny and telescope that needs shining.

Best post I've read this year ..

10.9 watts, eh, DC? Pretty intense. I would expect no less from you.
Well, to be honest, I WAS vaping at 5 volts (using the NiMH batteries) for years.
But then I got a Twist, and now I actually vape at 4.8 volts, so I guess I lied when I said anything less wouldn't be cool with me.
:)

And with the NiMH batteries, I was pretty much stuck at 5 volts, but with my Twist I can turn it down if I want.
So there are times when I do turn it down a bit, especially with certain flavors.

But it never really goes below 4.2 volts, and I usually have it floored.
:)

Hilarious thread. Love it.

My return to analogs after my first 20 hours or thereabouts of vaping had to do with the learning curve of vapor inhalation vs smoke inhalation. Over the next week of smoking just analogs I gave thought to the methodology, and how it was different from smoking. Then, when I went back to vaping it was better, easier and more satisfying. Just 23 days now so I'm still learning. I bypassed the cigalike route since Blu is the only thing available locally and I read not-to-great things about them in my online research. Waited for my Ego starter kit before having my first vaping experience.

Congrats bigbells! I smoked almost as long as you and did a lot of research after my first failed attempt at vaping.

I have a buddy coming over to get my starter kit. Told him he could have it and I would help steer him in the right direction from there. After reading this thread I'm also going to tell him that if he doesn't do some reading and watch some videos my free tech support will be limited!

I pulled one within the past hour that is worthy of honorable mention, or being drowned or something.

Somewhere in one of the many "I'm new, where do I start?" threads a few days ago, somebody posted a link to: Rawr Vapor: Ego Basics Kit - eGos & Accessories - Hardware
I thought that was a decent deal so I got me one, primarily for the pass-through battery. Well, I got it out of my mailbox today and decided it wasn't a pass-through because there was no place to put the mini end of the USB cord.

Emailed Rawr Vapor, got a near-immediate response that was worded very patiently and politely but in essence consisted of: take the bottom cap off, dummy!

Ooh! Hey! Cool! The USB connector is under dere! I honestly had checked to see if the bottom could be twisted off but wasn't able to do it until I knew it could be done. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

I payed forward, I gave my old 808d batteries that I first started on to a friend and his wife, I had 4 of the batteries, they were using some garbage you get from a gas station or drugstore. I had some clearos for the 808 and some small carts. Also gave them my juices that I just didnt like. No the difference is from my story to the OP's story these people had done their research, knew what they were using werent very good and wanted to move up. They have learned the terms, and know what they want in the future as far as PVs. I really felt good that I could help them take a next step. And they arnt afraid to ask questions and learn.

Hooked my neighbor up with one of my extra VAMO's and a cartotank to try out. He'd tried a few disposables but they just weren't cutting it. Let him try a better set up than he'd ever experienced and he acted impressed enough to want to try it out and see if he could transition. Told him that I'd swap out the batt whenever it got low. Showed him how to use it, change settings, refill the tank etc...

every couple days I'd ask how the batt was doing, and he'd always say "just fine." I'd ask how much he'd vaped it and he'd say "oh man that thing is great, I used it all day at work this week!"

Couple weeks go by and still he hadn't asked about a charged batt. So finally (after 3weeks) I ask to check it out and it still says it's at 3.8 volts! Either he was BSing me or that battery is a miracle and should be cloned and patented. He must think I'm stupid but he forgets that I'm the only hardcore vaper in the neighborhood....

Finally, I dug out my old 510 starter kit (Yeti) and swapped it out with him for my vamo back. I guessed if I was going to basically "throw something away to be stashed in a drawer" it shouldn't be a good Mod like the Vamo, heck....I have used it every day since getting it back.

As has been said: "No good deed goes unpunished!"

I recently sold my Twist to a coworker who was interested in e-cigs. I sold him my 1000 mah Twist, my Joyetech charger, a Kanger T3, and a 510-to-ego adapter for $30. Not to mention a full tank of juice. I thought I was paying it forward.

Since I sold it to him, he's complained non-stop. It won't hit right. So I did my best to explain Ohms, resistance, and voltages. It went right in one ear and out the other. The Kanger T3 is 2.5 ohms, so I said (over the phone tonight) put the Twist at the 4.0-4.2 range, and he asked, "What the blank does that mean?" And I explained to him that the Twist allows you to change your voltage to match your Ohm resistance for a better vape (I explained all of this to him when I first sold it to him, but obviously he wasn't paying attention). "Look at the dial on the bottom, it has hash marks, where is it set at?" (It was set at 3.8 +/- when I sold it to him). He said there were no marks (I knew this obviously to be untrue, they were there), and when he looked he said, "Oooh! Yeah, they're there!" But he had it twisted it to 4.8 volts. No wonder his tank wasn't firing correctly.

And then he said it wasn't charging. I asked him if he removed the 510 to ego adapter before charging, and he said yes. Thumbs up. Then I asked him if the charging light was red with flashes of green. He said, no, it stays red, it's still a piece of blank. Then I asked him if he screwed it into the charger, and he asked, "You have to screw it in?"

/Facepalm.

I've helped a bunch of vapers since I first started myself, but I've also encountered people who abuse their devices, bang 'em up, crank them to the max, and mismatch their delivery systems. I blame it on them not having a proper mentor, and also, they possess a mentality that just doesn't want to FULLY understand vaping and how it works. They want a thingy, they want to press a button, and they want it to work every single time. I do my best to let all of the noobs I talk to realize that there is a huge learning curve to vaping, and it will take effort on their part to figure out the details. But rarely do these certain types ever do it.

I'll never withhold advice from someone potentially looking into vaping, but I will no longer support someone who is just plain lazy and won't do a little bit of research and homework themselves. I know it's probably too much to ask, but I'm done with people who get ...... at me for selling them "blank-rigged junk."

It's not blank-rigged junk, it's user error. Learn from your mistakes and try to expand your brain a little.

Ok, rant over.
