Hey jim yes there is certainly plenty of space still around where you lived although it's higher up around the lakes that seems the kind of place I would really love to visit and to live the most. I think it's the size of the spaces you still have left over there in America that us Brits have a problem imagining, when we talk of miles of open space in the UK we really mean a matter of only a few miles! I don't think there is anywhere left here where you could literally be alone all day. America is so big it will still be a while before you have absolutely nowhere left like that. I guess it's why the population thing seems such an important issue to me. Every bit of space we do have is vanishing fast.
