The Noob Blues

So..I've been smoking a pack a day for the past 15+ years. I have been smoke-free since October 20th, 2012. I was doing okay for a while, but I started to gain a ton of weight and craving that cig. I found myself eating junk food in the place of cigs! I saw a Blu commercial on TV and didn't think much of it. I went to the gas station and saw some Blu disposables and thought I would give it a try and maybe I could keep that in my mouth instead of food. Well..I fell in love with my little Blu disposable. The one that I bought only lasted for a half day and at 10$ a crack, I felt a little disappointed. I started to research the eCig market..Holy ....! I didn't know that this was a lifestyle, but I understand now.

I bought a eGo starter kit with some ejuice that came with the kit. I chose the high strength (24mg) of the tobacco menthol and the coffee flavor since those are my fav. After just 1 day, my lungs/chest started to hurt like I was inhaling smoke from a burning tire! It took me about 2mg of juice to adapt to the change of a disposable to the eJuice. I did a lot of research and ordered about 8 different bottles of the 16mg eJuice (which I will be getting next week)...Boba's Bounty(I hear this one is the schiznit), buttery nipple, ice ice, cool canteloupe and a 4 pack sampler of Zeus juice. I have no idea what is a good combo of PG/VG??? 70/30, 50/50, 100%...It's confusing! I like a lot of vapor and not too much punch to the lungs, but I want to feel like I'm smoking something...any help/suggestions will be great! I have also stopped the midnight munchees thanks to my eGo!

Congrats and welcome :)

VG provides softer flavor & throat hit but way more vapor production. I tend to go 50PG/50VG to 100VG. A good way to find the right ratio for you is to get a sample 100PG and another sample 100VG (same flavor / same nic strength) and then mix them to see what works best for you. Another thing I do is keep a bottle of 100% VG no nic and add a couple drops to harsh juices to soften them a bit (Pure Glycerin USP from CVS Pharmacy is $5/6oz).

Congratulations on quitting and starting vaping! :toast: It sounds to me as if you have a PG allergy. High nic will give you a headache, but its generally PG that will cause the types of symptoms you have. It can also be the VG. I'd recommend trying a purity flavor from Heathers Heavenly Vapes, in 100% VG. Huntsman is very good for those coming off cigarettes, but also try Serendipity which is also A+++. You may also want to keep your nic level at 24 and keep the 18 for the evenings (lower so you can sleep better) and also get an 80PG/20VG liquid to see which is bothering you. Best of luck!

I think the OP is saying that while s/he quit, s/he was in danger of starting up again as the cig cravings were getting worse in spite of using food as a panacea.

Just curious. Since you quit smoking in october you obviously are way past the point of nicotine addiction. Why on earth would you vape with nicotine juices that just get you addicted to nicotine again? You do know that you can get zero nicotine right?

Try 100% VG at 12 mg from heathers heavenly vapes - Serendipity is a lovely one to start - it is a naturally extracted tobacco, but its really more a vanilla and caramel with coffee and then chocolate notes as it matures. Nicotine will cause you light headedness and headaches, but PG will cause that chest discomfort. Btw 24 mg nicotine isn't unreasonable, each individual will come to their best comfort level there but yes, you may find that 12-18 is comfortable for you.
