I was wondering if anyone here could help fulfill some of my curiosity. I'm curious as to what kinda wattage I'm running when the arrow on the potentiometer is sitting directly between the - & + symbol? Meaning it's pointing directly at the screw between the 2 symbols. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I had read on this forum that the wattage goes from 5 to 12 watts with the center point on the dial at 8.5 watts.

well, yes and no. The kick has marked numbers for the settings. You have to look closely but there are actually lines from the numbers going in towards the potentiometer that show a more exact alignment for the pointer on the kick pot. some of thm turn at an angle so you have to look closely to see them. Also, from left to right, Kick goes from 5-10 watts.

Opus is also from left to right (see pic above "-" on left and "+" on right) but there are no numerical markings. However, not tough to figure out. half way is where the pointer in the pic is showing - directly pointed at the screw on the brass endcap - is 8.5 watts. Full left is 5 watts and the space between the far left anf the center screw is from 5-8.5 and from the screw to full right is 8.5 thru 12 watts. Easy turn and pot holds its position very well (unless you directly hit or move it).

Edit: well - left and right depend on which way you hold the device but, regardless, the dial turns left to lower and right to raise the watts.

I do not have anything to measure the output

I can get about 8 hours on a 2.1 ohm coil @ 8.6-9 watts. Everyone else seems to be getting days out of their Opus. Can anyone reflect on that for me? I bought it just two weeks old from someone on the classies, and everything seemed to be in tip top shape, but who knows. I had a lot of weird charging issues in the beginning. It seems to charge correctly now, it just take 11 billion hours to get that green light.

I'm thinking I should contact Opus about having it looked at and possibly replaced. I have the invoice number and it is under warranty. Thoughts?

My old one is like that as well. It's going in for service.
My new one, which is three weeks old, charges in about 4 hours
if completely spent. At full charge, I get three tanks of service out of it
at around 9.5w with a 3ohm carto.
The bottom? No. But it is a bit not flush with the wood. Also, yesterday I went to pick up my opus and noticed that the screw on top closest to the 510 connection was sticking up quite a bit. I got a small Phillips head, and gently screed it back down to find that it wouldn't "lock". At closer inspection I noticed there is a tiny hair line crack in the wood from the top cap down to the button. Almost looks like the grain of the wood, but it’s a crack for sure and obviously why the screw won't lock.

Yeah I've got a screw that doesn't lock in either. As a matter of fact I believe it's the exact same screw you mentioned, thankfully no crack in the wood though. I've only been getting about 8-9 hours run time out of mine too, but that's alright with me. As long as it last a work day I'm all good. It does seem to take forever to charge though. Anyone know how the service is handled if you are the second hand owner?

I'm sure they will be pretty good with service regardless. I'm not sure about warranty, though.
The screw in the wood sounds like stripped threading on the wood.
Wood hates threading. Except if its iron wood.

I was looking at it the other day wondering if it just threaded straight into the wood. I reckoned it was, and thought that was kinda odd. But thanks for the heads up jp. I'll shoot 'em an e-mail and ask what kinda price I'd be looking at to have it serviced. Have I said lately how much I love this forum! :)
