So this is my first tank (RBA), I settled on this for now:

Dual 30 gauge vertical coils directly over the air holes - 10 wraps around 3mm each for 1.8 ohms net.

About 1/4 piece of rayon 1.5" long (Sally's Beauty Coil) wedged between each of the negative and positive posts, right at the juice channels.

After the coils were installed, I trimmed the rayon then juiced it up. I folded it up and bunched it at the channel tucking a little behind the coils. I saw a video where the guy said don't put wick in the channel, put it at the channel. Screwed the chimney all the way down, etc.

No leaks here yet and it has a decent amount of vapor, but I think the stand alone dual coils take too long to get going. I had the same problem in the Tobh and the Magma. Tomorrow I may redo it with a single coil made with two 30ga wires like I do in the RDAs. It was late when I finished this one, should have pics tomorrow.

My Orchid V2 build. Around 0.4-0.5 ohm. Excellent flavor and vapor production. Just enough rayon in the channels to hold wick in place while screwing on the chimney.

 yep, another thread I'm on kept hyping it up, so I ended up breaking it out, cleaning it and setting it up in the middle of the night. Wow, OK I get it now!

But ugh, so close on that chimney height! :grr:

Haha,i think i feel one of those "we told ya so" moments coming on haha.I know what you mean about the chimney though,if i had a lathe,i could make an extension, but i dont have one,so i'm going to check around and see if any friends have one not sure.Although i did get some good news today. The member that i sent the quartz kits to,just got back to me and let me know that he recieved the package today, has done the initial test fit to see how much to take off,and will quite possibly be doing some cutting tonight,so i may have some pics to share tommorow.as long as all goes well with it,i imagine cutting glass is a bit tricky,so i've got my fingers crossed haha.

Now if we can just convince a few of the other doubter's like Tbev, then i will feel like this has been a success haha.

Im not sure if anyone has any input, but...

I picked up an orchid clone, built my first coil on it, and went to dry fire it when i noticed something.. There is an insulator around the positive post and every time i fire it, it melts. Of course im not going to be inhaling that. Anyone seen this before? solution?

What is the resistance of your coils?I would guess either they are really low ohm's and getting extremely hot,or it could possibly be shorting somewhere.I run mine at .9 ohms and have dry burned it several times and never noticed any issues.

they are .36 ohms. The base gets really hot for some reason after only firing it one or two times

Yeah, good luck with Mr. Fogger.

That's good news about the glass.
I remember in Chem class the teacher had one of these:
images

You hold it down like pliers, spin the tube around the blade thingie, then press down and snap. Almost ordered one!
I have a diamond cutting blade on my Dremel too. The tubes are like a buck, so I might hack away at one. Be nice to come up with something (other than Nano), because I really can't stand how it looks with the KF top fill cap and plastic barrel. :( Other than that, good times. Thanks for your persistence!

I just found some other insulators that i had purchased from kidney puncher a while back, put them in with a .30 dual coil and all is good!

Yeah, Teflon (PTFE) and PEEK are really better for something that hot. Looks like just cheap nylon in there (translucent).

I think i've got him at least considering it haha.
That glass cutter is actually pretty cool,i had never seen one of those before.I looked on ebay and found some for less than $14,so i may pick one up,and some spare tubes from fasttech for just in case one ever gets broken.Speaking of top caps,i got mine the other day,the same one that was in that link you posted a while back,it completely changes the look of the orchid, and it looks awesome.I'll post a pic here shortly.
