Be sure you use to correct coils. I believe - and I could be wrong as I do not do TC any longer - but the nickle and titanium coils are for temp control only. Most prebuilt coils have a blue oring to let you know it is for temp control. To use watts/volts settings, you need normal coils - has a white or some such oring on the 510 connection part.

So if I was to use a nickel coil in wattage mode, what would happen? It wouldn't fire or what could be the negative effects of that?

It will probably ruin it. It could oxidize and be dangerous. The mod may know its a tc coil ?

Will the kanthal one work in TC, or is that one just specifically for watt mode or power mode???

Sorry fellas, is a lot if info to take in and I just want to make sure I'm doing it the correct way

Those must be used in power mode. Tc won't work correctly with kanthal because kanthal keeps a stable resistance when heated. Tc works by detecting changes in resistance, which ni and ti do when heated. And it cuts power to keep them at the temp you set.

Could I run the titanium coils at under 40 watts? I was just doing some research online and came across a page for sale on the ego titanium coils that it said they're recommended to use the ti coils for 40 watts and above. Is there any risk if is lower than 40?

the "VT" won't go below 30 watts in TC mode (VTC corrected this)
thing is, it won't hurt going low, just NOTHING happens
unit goes IMMEDIATELY to Temp Protection with little vapor produced...

Ok, thank you. I get it now I think. Titanium or nickel for temp control, and kanthal for watt

just a ruff reference

standard Watt control wire :

- Kanthal A1 Resistance Wire (Odd Gauges)
- Nichrome Series 80 Resistance Wire

Temp Control Wires:

- Annealed Nickel Wire Ni200 (NON RESISTANCE)
- Titanium Wire (Surgical Grade 1)

:D

RoxyMusic: Back when I first got it I didn't know what to set it for with my Aerotanks :).
I posted in the MVP owners thread.

yes, yes...

but I meant, what is the status of your MVP at this time... ?

  • still works like a champ
  • sold it to finance your sauerkraut farm
  • it died a pleasant (or not so pleasant) death
  • gave it to a Monk, because you couldn't believe he was using an old Blu cig-a-like
  • just don't use it 'cause it's really heavy

:p :pervy:

Wicks up to touch the fluff filler inside that holds the juice.

Yes, at least one wick tail needs to touch the fluff that holds the juice.

I so should have done like any research on this thing before I impulse bought it. I saw the design and thought it worked more like the Achilles. Fluff filler? Top wicking? I am glad it was cheap.
